Really nice hotel- one of the best Britannia's I have stayed at fir a long time. Room was very comfortable and clean. Very close to airport although we spent a day at the Trafford Centre first! Hale also has a lovely cosmopolitan-type feel- i.e nice bars/eateries etc. I also saw 7 Bentley's in the first 10 minutes. Really enjoyed it. Parking was ideal - real close to the airport- regualr transfers to terminal- great and a real bargain. Collapse

Probably the worst hotel I have ever come across. Curtains torn and hanging off Carpet threadbare Chair torn and disgustingly dirty No soap or shower gel (unit empty) Paint peeling off everywhere Sink blocked Window frames mouldy Shame really because the location is pretty convenient. This is a £30 a night hotel, we paid £75 which was a complete rip off. Collapse

I have just returned from my holiday and all I can say is what a disgrace this hotel and parking service we booked with you! We arrived on Tuesday 21st February to stay at the Britannia Ashley Hotel stay and park reference number UGTVI, and all I can say is disgusting from the beginning. We were made to wait 30 mins at the check in desk whilst the girl on the reception spent on the phone to then finally get the key to our room which we had to lug all our cases up a flight of stairs and go to what only could be described as appalling room. The chair was all stained, tea and coffee spilt all up the walls, Tele only worked if u rested the kettle behind it cause it had a big split in the aerial, there was an empty mars bar wrapper in the bin, empty crisp packet behind the disgusting bedside cabinet and to top the lot there was a used bloody sanitary towel in the bathroom bin . It would of been cleaner to sleep in the car! We then had to drive to another hotel to park the car and walk wat seemed half a mile down the road from the reception with all our cases. What puts top hat on it was the return pick up from the airport which we were made to wait over half an hour in the freezing cold for the transfer to arrive only for the driver to not even bother getting out the car to help us put our luggage in the boot, he then dropped us off at the wrong hotel snd left us there in the dark to then realise after he had gone we were not at the right hotel. We then called back the company to explain wat happened and they said they would send another taxi which we waited a further 30 mins for to pick us up and take us to the right hotel to collect my car only to charge us £14 for the journey. When we finally got to the car I was now in tears as all this from start to finish ruined my holiday, we then had a further hours drive back home so from landing at 21.40 we finally arrived home at 2am. This hotel is awful, one of the worst hotels I've ever been to in my life, and I've been to a few! If I could give this a 0, I definitely would! The hotel itself is ridiculously difficult to find, as it's not actually on a main street, it's on a side street. There's 3 disabled parking spaces at the front, but that's all. You have to leave your car in a public car park, which obviously charges you to stay there, unless it's after 6pm or a Sunday. On check in, the girl at the desk was more interested in talking to her friend instead of checking me into my room. I was standing there for at least 10 minutes before I was actually given my key to my room. Very friendly (!) you'd think checking in your guests would be more important, we are paying for this service!! After getting my key, took the lift to my room. The lift was very slow coming down, to the point I thought it wasn't coming at all. It's a very rickety old thing that felt like it could break down at any point. A definite avoid. My room was on the 3rd floor. This floor appears to be very neglected. My room had no WiFi access, but I wasn't even given a password for the WiFi, and there was no information about it in the room at all. The TV signal was very poor, very static-y and jumpy, so watching programmes was out of the question. The curtains in the room look like they've been there since day 1 of the hotel, they were ripped in dozens of places, and were very difficult to properly close - I eventually had to put a chair on the bottom of them to keep them closed so I could sleep. The room I was in had a couple of nails sticking out the wall - a possible hazard if you're there with kids who catch themselves on them. The furniture in the room seemed as old as the curtains, I found a hole in one of the chairs. Awful. The room also had an uncovered light above the bed - not exactly safe either! The heating in the rooms appears to be on max at all times. The room was ridiculously hot. I would prefer to turn my heating off, but apparently that's not possible in the rooms. I had to open the window in the end, otherwise I'd have baked to death in the room. Now, sleeping with the window open is usually something I can do no problem, but not here. The website states they are in a quiet area, but that's not really true. There is a busy road nearby, and obviously a public car park near the hotel too, so it's not exactly quiet. I also was treated to the whirring of a generator all from 11pm to around 2:30am, what a convenient time for them to do this! The bathroom, possibly one of the nicer parts of the room, however had some mould around the bath, and even had a couple of beasties crawling around - not nice to see. The bed, as others have mentioned, are very uncomfortable, almost similar to sleeping on concrete. Sleeping upright in my car might have been more comfortable! Now here comes the good part, this hotels allows smoking in the rooms. They offer you smoking or non smoking rooms on check in. I asked for a non-smoking room. The room I got, has clearly had people smoking in it before. And the room next door also had someone smoking in it, but this was also a non-smoking room. Seems they don't really care about this at all. This room overall cost me £45, it's definitely a case of "get what you pay for" .... This payment didn't include my breakfast, which I didn't even bother going for. I went to Costa next door and got my breakfast toastie there. Awful. Avoid at all costs. This place should be shut down. Collapse
