We have traveled the country and often stay in VRBO-type residence for the space and amenities. BUT, when it comes to AZ, we ONLY stay at the Arizona Grand! We've stayed here for the past 12 years, and I often traveled here on business prior to that. Why do we keep coming back? * Location! Right off the freeway, all of Phoenix, West Valley, East Valley, Ball Parks, Parks in general is right at our finger tips! * Accomadations! LOVE the suites! There is not a bad suite and after 12+ years, we've stayed in many:) Mountain view...Golf Course view...Water Park view? Your choice! If it's available, the staff at the Arizona Grand will make it happen! And, if your budget allows, the Villas are AMAZING! * WaterPark! Our daughter is now 20 YEARS old and refuses to stay anywhere but here! We LOVE relaxing in the lazy river and bouncing in the wave pool! Each time we join an impromptu game in the water volley ball pool. And, yes, we STILL conquer the water slides:) * Golf Course! Whether you're a player or a wannabe, the staff and the course make it fun to play. The course is wonderful for a morning or evening walk, too! * South Mountain! Want to do a little hiking! This is the place, right outside your suite! * Health Club! I'm a fitness freak and this club has everything I need to stay in shape; including an adults-only lap pool! * FOOD! Great restaurants on site with AMAZING views of the golf course and mountains! * Customer Service! This is THE NUMBER ONE reason we continue to return to the Arizona Grand Resort and Spa! Thank you, Phil Kniep for securing a FABULOUS stay in the Villas for us! A few more conversations with family members and we hope to be returning to them March 2018, if not sooner! Leslie Zavos, thank you for the time you spent with us detailing the benefits of ownership of the villas! Luz at the front desk, our reservation was a little complicated and you navigated it as if you do that everyday:)! Bob in the Lobby Grill! Thank you for accommodating our daughter's unique taste limitations and making her feel at home:)! ALL of housekeeping! You do a FANTASTIC job taking GREAT care of the suites and grounds and making all requests come true:) And all of the bell men! Even passing you by through the lots, you always have a smile and welcoming words to say to make us feel like we're at home! Long review? Yep! But, lots of great things to say about the Arizona Grand! THANKS again for a remarkable stay! SEE YOU SOON! Collapse

It has several stand alone buildings within the Resort so I recommend to look at a map of the Resort before visiting. Even though there are signs it took us a bit at night to find the lobby. We reserved the two rooms suite and it was fantastic. The view to the golf course was phenomenal. It has a full kitchen but I was disappointed that there were no cooking utensils, so we made a trip to the local Walmart. There is a grocery store right across. The water park is great for kids. They spend all morning in the pools came back to the suite for sandwiches and went back to the water park till it close. A big plus was that the park is not to big to where you feel you are going to loose a child :). There is plenty of very attentive lifeguards on posts. Kids had a blast and were exhausted. They have plenty of seating chairs on shaded areas or full sun for the adults. They have a good size bar and there is plenty of servers walking around. The whole staff was very courteous and made you feel special. We had dinner at their restaurant. The food was ok it was not great and it was expensive. The service was fast, courteous and very attentive just wish the food would of equal the quality of service. They have free wifi but it would kick you out often. I don't golf, I wish I did cause the course look amazing. Collapse
Very nice place, quite busy, clean, but scattered and tough to navigate

So if you're up for a great adventure, this is a wonderful spot. the weather was great, I was here for spring training. The prices are astronomical for all hotels near spring training, so it wasn't a huge sticker shock when I got the bill. And the room was nicely appointed. For what I paid, I would have expected more, but I think spring training jacks up prices all over. The water park was nice, not huge, but that was OK with me, not overrun with people and not too busy. The lazy river was really nice on a warm spring day. The only drawback is that this is a facility with probably 50 buildings, it's huge, and it's hard to figure out where to go. If you've done it before it likely would be easier but since it was our first time, it was really confusing. The "lobby" is where you check in, and get your keys, but expect to get back in your car to find your actual room b/c it's likely to be far from the "lobby" so don't unpack your suitcases from your car when you get to the lobby. Likewise when I went to check out, I hadn't left enough time to return to the "lobby" and check out officially, so they agreed to send me the zero balance receipt by email, a small hassle, but there should be multiple places to check in. Main thing is don't expect to just drive up to a hotel and check in as you would at most major chains as it won't work that way. The overall experience was good. Collapse

Family of 4 on our first trip to AZ from Midwest 3/16/17. Enjoyed the resort especially the pool area. Kids (8 &12) had plenty to do. Loved the lazy river and nightly movie at the pool as the sunset. The pool cabana seemed a little pricey but I guess worth it to guarantee shade, space and service for your party. The service at the resort was great. The resort is big and they just shuttle you to and from various areas via golf cart by simply calling the front desk. That was really convenient. The golf was good, front nine much different than back. Got discounted Tee-times by going on line - $60. Its located right of the interstate so enjoying other areas of Pheonix was easy. I would recommend this place and would stay there again. Collapse
Overpriced and outdated

I'm sure this property had a moment of glory, but that seems decades past. While the rooms and property are clean, their age is certainly showing. In-room paint and finishes are spotty, faucets and toilets are hardly water conserving, carpet is stained and out-of-date, and ceilings are 1970's low (and I'm peering up at a 3ft long crack in the ceiling drywall as I write this). Also be advised that we paid for an upgraded room which, evidently has more to do with location on the property than finishes (at least I hope that's the case). Public areas, especially the lobby, are much better maintained. The water park is functional, but their "wave pool" would be more aptly described as a small kiddie pool with slight surface agitation. As someone from Denver and Water World, this water park is small and uninspiring. Make no mistake, this property could have value if the average daily rate was $150 as opposed to $350, and the resort fee was $25 as opposed to $50/nt. By way of comparison I paid HALF the amount for a Sky Suite at Aria last week in Las Vegas for the opening weekend of March Madness--certainly a peak time for LV properties. And these were weekend rates as compared to the weekday stay at the Arizona Grand Resort. Overall, a very disappointing booking. Collapse
