We had our wedding reception at The Ardilaun on 11th August 2017. We live in Boston, MA and at first we were a bit nervous about planning a wedding in Ireland however from the first time we met Maureen Walsh, wedding planner at The Ardilaun back in May 2016 we knew we were in good hands and we immediately booked the hotel for our wedding reception. Maureen and her team went above and beyond our expectations over the 15 months from the time we booked up until and including the day of the wedding. A lot of our communication was through email over the 15 months and Maureen and her staff were very responsive and helpful in answering any questions we had, and we had quite a few:). Our wedding day couldn’t have gone any smoother. Maureen and her staff handled every detail regardless of how big or small. Many of our guests commented on how wonderful everything was including but not limited to; the setting of the hotel, the staff, the location, the gardens, the food, the guest room accommodations, etc... My new husband and I as well as many of our American guests stayed there the week leading up to the wedding and again everyone went out of their way to make our stay comfortable, enjoyable and stress free. A big shout out to of course to Maureen Walsh, John (one of the managers), Joe (one of the managers), the whole front desk staff (Amanda, Virginia to name a couple from memory), the reservations team (Catherine Boyd, Vanessa) as well as the staff of the pub/restaurant/wedding reception (Ronan, Grace, PJ, Jessica). I know I'm leaving out some names but everyone we encountered were so helpful and accommodating, pleasant and made our stay very enjoyable and our wedding the best day of our lives!! We can't recommend The Ardilaun enough whether it is for a pint, a bite to eat, a night away, or a place for a wedding reception. The Ardilaun will always be where we will stay when we are visiting Galway!! Oh and the Thai Green Chicken Curry in the pub and bistro was so good!! I had it almost every day I was there either for lunch or dinner!! Collapse

Be careful of how they charge you- we made a mistake on our booking through hotels.com so we got charged for two nights instead of one and the guy who was the reservations manager tried to charge us way more than the website rate for the second night - (he asked for 200euros instead of 143 saying all the time how sorry he was but he could do nothing). The hotel is ok but when they try and rip you off while pretending it's not their fault I'm going to avoid it in future - doesn't give a good feeling to what was supposed to be a nice night away. This hotel had a charm that spoke of the past. When wondering around, you could tell that this was a hotel in which everyone must have wanted to stay--it was the place to be! A lot of it does now appear to be dated, but it is kept clean and is still inviting (unless you are looking for an ultra modern or contemporary hotel). We found the bell to ring for a taxi a unique and fun feature--nothing we had ever seen in a hotel before. The rooms can take some time to find as it is a "sprawling" hotel with, I believe, buildings added on. But the rooms were a great size, clean, had a/c, and the beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was much larger than ones normally found in European hotels. There was several terraces, walking paths through the trees, and things to explore. The food from the restaurant was very good, although pricey. We did enjoy the complimentary breakfast that came with our stay. There is a parking garage in the back of the hotel with elevator access to the hotel. Additionally, there is parking in the front and limited parking on the side of the hotel. There is no charge for parking. The hotel is a short taxi ride away from Quay Street--a must see for visitors to Galway. We would stay in this hotel again. Collapse

I need to express my concern, I had a wedding in your hotel last year and had a issue with a new pair of shoes going missing in the room that were found a few days later. On good faith the hotel gave me a voucher for the hotel 2016/0**. I rang in June to book a room a for the night for me and my mother. I will admit I forgot to ring back with my credit details, due to it been a voucher I didn't think it was going to be a big issue, been the voucher was given because of shoes went missing from the hotel room that appeared out of the blue a few days later. Two days before we were meant to go for Galway 27th I rang to make sure the the booking was OK, which it wasn't on the system. The woman on the front desk told me she would hold the room for me, but she would get a staff member to ring me back the following morning. The next morning I was told we couldnt go, the hotel was fully booked up, but the night before the room was been put on hold. Me and my mother took the Friday off work for this trip and I told the woman on the phone about this and it just seemed to over looked. I feel out done with this, the reason for the weekend away was that my father has recently passed away and they both used to go Galway for a night or two, it sort of ruined what could of been a good weekend and both of us lost a day holidays each from work.
