Stayed at this hotel over easter & it did not disappoint! We booked a double room, but ended up getting a double & single, so the room was big & spacious, also beautifully decorated. The bathroom was impressive, big massive walk in shower which we were not expecting! Only downfall with the room is the terrible lighting, so for girls needing to do their makeup bring a mini mirror to set on the windowsill lol. The TV was not really to standard & didn't include an HDMI portal so we couldn't plug in our firestick. Also would have been helpful if there was a list of local attractions/restaurants included in the welcome pack! However overall the room was great Upon arrival we expected to be able to pay using Sterling money as every other hotel we have stayed at down south accepted it. However we were told we couldn't, & as easter was a bank holiday weekend we couldn't get any money changed. The woman at reception wasn't very helpful as she said she couldn't accept it instead of just working out the exchange rate. All the hotel & bar staff were so lovely, friendly & helpful, apart from one very unhappy looking woman who served our breakfast. She dropped our plates down on our table, I said thankyou & smiled at her, she completely ignored me, turned around & walked off. My boyfriend & I laughed it off! Breakfast was nice though and the girl who took our order was so lovely & cheery! We hope to stay here again as we has a great time & thoroughly enjoyed it, thankyou! Collapse

Overall very good. Rooms extremely spacious and comfortable. Not expensive. Staff lovely. Food good apart from poor fruit selection at breakfast and no porridge on the menu. But, the walls in the corridors really need painting as does the exterior of the building.......would make a huge difference to the overall impression.....and what is the smell in the lift lobby, lift and stairwell? Its terrible and it seems to be the carpet.....please address it....ugh! Collapse

Stayed here for one night with our baby. Upon arriving, the location wasn't the most idyllic - situated smack bang in a housing estate. But upon entering the hotel we were nicely surprised. Large hotel, nice decor, really friendly staff. We were welcomed by a lovely lady at reception who made us feel at home right away and couldn't do enough for us. Also asked us if we required a cot which was very nice of her. Our room was spacious, double/king size bed and a single bed, large bathroom, warm, plenty of hot water and very clean. The view from the window wasn't the best (looking out onto a car park) but we didn't come for the view so didn't really mind that. Unfortunately we didn't get to eat in the main restaurant as it was booked up so settled for the bar - the food was excellent and reasonable. The staff there were also extremely friendly and prompt. They had plenty of high chairs also to cater for toddlers so that was a big plus for us. Breakfast the next morning was lovely, large buffet style breakfast covering Full Irish to continental to cater for everyone. The only negative about our stay was that we didn't get a good sleep. There was a function on that night and the music was quite loud, you could hear and feel the vibrations throughout the bed and room. But the most annoying was the guests coming back to their rooms in the early hours of the morning who were extremely loud and inconsiderate to others staying in the hotel. Granted this is no fault of the staff and could happen in any hotel, but it was the only downside of our stay. Overall we were quite happy with our stay and the hotel but, before staying here again, I would call ahead first to see if any functions were planned. Collapse

The first thing that strikes you about this hotel is its location - surrounded by houses to the front and sides however with open fields to the rear just on the outskirts of Tuam - however that isn't a bad thing. As it turns out both the location and the food make this is an exceptionally popular hotel with the locals who on an evening flock to the wonderful Dick Dowling's bar or the Kiltevna room restaurant (more of that later). I've stayed in many hotels in the republic in recent months many of which have been lovely four star hotels however I was really surprised to find that this hotel is currently only a three star hotel - yes it may not have the leisure centres that the others did but in every other way this hotel excels. The bedrooms are warm and comfortably and are kept spotlessly clean by the wonderful back of house staff (who deserve much more praise that they perhaps get) and the bathrooms modern and stylish with plenty of hot water for both shower and bath. My room wasn't the largest by far and it didn't have the best view ( a lovely air conditioner and a brick wall ) however that didn't matter one iota really as with both double and single bed I was spoiled for choice and had a great sleep for every night of my four night stay. The staff and very friendly and efficient and I can honestly say they went out of their way to make my stay as comfortable as possible - special thanks to the breakfast and evening bar staff. On the subject of food the menu might not be the biggest but the food on it is very tasty indeed - worthy of mention is the excellent chowder and the chicken tagliettelle (both from the very good value early bird menu (2 courses for 17 eu or three courses for 22eu both of which come with a complimentary glass of excellent house white or red)). However the evening 'specials' turned out to be the simply the best - roast beef one night and roast lamb the next - with such generous helpings : its no wonder the bar turned out to be so busy each evening with the locals as well as hotel residents. There is a wonderful seating area just off reception too which was a great place to people watch and read the paper. This was a wonderful hotel to stay in - I'm so sorry that I'm having to leave tomorrow... Collapse
