The ARCOTEL Castellani Salzburg is a nice property. We stayed here for one night and had a reasonably good experience. It is not far from the tourist sites and it can be reached easily by public transport. There's a bus stop within 3 minutes from the hotel that takes you to town (10 mins ride). The hotel has a beautiful terrace / garden where you can sit around to enjoy some sun and drinks during summer time. The variety of food they service in the morning is quite substantial. The bar behind the reception seems a little under staff in the evening other than that it's pleasant and I would probably stay here again if I return to Salzburg. Collapse

This was our first visit to Austria celebrating our wedding anniversary. I rate this between 3 and 4. Negatives are the reason for lost points. Positives: cleanliness was excellent. Comfort was good in terms of sleep. Bath gels etc provided. Lovely little church on grounds and a cosy quaint Austrian restaurant in the basement for a special meal should you choose to use it. I felt very welcome there by the tall waiter. Staff clinically polite. Provided a kettle the next day when guests checked out when I explained my need for it. Negative: set surrounded by Austrian hills and mountains our room had no view. No kettle or teas in room but provided a kettle after a reminder. Twin beds pushed together rather than a double bed- not really good when celebrating a wedding anniversary! Given a welcome complimentary slip for any glass of drink from the bar. No restriction was placed on it. Offered a glass of wine. As we don't drink alcohol I asked for non alcoholic cocktail -not the greatest expense as you can imagine- staff rigidity dictated that the response was a 'no '. Didn't make make me feel very welcome at that point so apple juice it was! Staff lacking (except for one blond reception woman) in ability to smile and very limited interaction that did not go beyond the formal responses. When I've traveled I've found hotel staff to be chatty, informative and act as if there's not enough they can do for you. Sadly lacking in this department but it may be the Austrian way and part of the experience?! I can't forget the cost of the breakfast - I asked what kind of food was included and the person from the restaurant looked rather surprised as if I was stupid and said it was a typical Austrian breakfast. We never tried it as told eventually it was a typical Mediterranean and more importantly 18 euros per person! An inability to break down what's on food list for international guests is alway telling about attitudes and accommodating dietary requirements etc. It fell short of my expectations for a Four star hotel in terms of extras in Quality and attitude and cost. If it was a rated three star hotel then it meets all the standard but then it would make it an expensive three star. The negatives didn't spoil my stay, nothing could as I was in a happy mood in a lovely country , celebrating my anniversary and cleanliness is my priority for any hotel. The hotel gets a 10/10 for that. But there's more to a 4star than that. The hotel simply, if I were a hotel inspector would border on a high end 3star. My comments are simply factual on my expectations when a hotel represents itself as a 4 or 5 star hotel and traveling widely. Collapse

I went with my family in the month of May 2017 and it was a horrible experience at Arcotel Castellani Hotel in Salzburg. The Hotel staff was very very rude in behaviour and in talking with us and the rooms were horrible and they gave us rooms on the 5th floor which we had to climb the steps and there was no elevator for 5th floor and even there were rooms on 3rd & 4th floor they didn't give us the rooms . The restaurant staff was also very very rude as they didn't served properly or didn't gave us answers also properly and the breakfast was also very horrible and the concierge desk person was also very rude and when we were checking out the Hotel I had a back pain and told him to help me to keep the luggage in the car he denied and again I requested him then he threw my luggage in the parking. So I request not to go and stay in Arcotel Castellani Salzburg for your holidays or business trip. The staff working there everyone are very very rude and arrogant. Collapse
