Great location for the beach and shops, The hotel has recently been refurbished and has been tastefully done, the bedroom was however a bit on the small side although the bathroom and walk in shower (with rain-head) were well appointed, small but adequate balcony. No tea or coffee making provided or a welcome pack with map,local interests or indeed information on the hotel meals or mealtimes. Breakfast was great with plenty of choice. We booked this hotel as a short break for my birthday, was very disappointed to find that the Spa and Sauna were closed (although the board was out when we arrived) as I was going to treat myself to a nice massage. The Hotel is billed as a Spa hotel and nowhere did it say when booking that it would be closed. You expect the outdoor pool to be closed at this time of the year but not the Spa. Just be aware of this if you book out of season. Collapse

We decided to make Sitges our last break in the Sun prior to Winter, it was a region of Spain we have not been to before and was only a short transfer from Barcelona Airport. We again booked our holiday with the excellent Jet2 Holidays and did not have any issues at all. The flight departed Manchester and arrived on time and following a fast Customs clearance and collection of bags we were met by the Jet2 agent who took us out to an awaiting Taxi. Being the only guests on the flight for the Hotel Antemare and a fast lady driver we were at the hotel in quick time. The hotel is situated just one block from the Promenade in a quiet street, a nice entrance down a slope or steps brings you into the very modern, bright Reception area - Check in was quick and handled by a very friendly, pleasant young lady and we were on ouw way to room 111, the corridors were painted in a Cream colour with matching carpets and was modern and spotless, I am pretty sure it has just gone through a major refurbishment. On entering the room we were amazed by the size of it - massive - all very modern and relaxing colour scheme, the windows facing the balcony were the full width of the room and were sliding doors so very practical. The bed was a King size with a very deep, comfortable Matteress, the bathroom was well appointed with a decent shower with the choice of a large or small shower head. At the other end of the room there was a sitting area with settee and table and also another chair, there was also a large wardrobe with sliding mirrored doors which also housed the free Room Safe. There were no instructions for the Air Conditioning unit so I went to Reception to ask for the fan to be turned down, I mentioned to the man on the desk about the size of the room, that was when I found out we had been upgraded to a Junior Suite! The maintenance man was at the room within five minutes and sorted the fan. We stayed on half-board - the Breakfast was self-serve with a decent selection of hot and cold food, drinks from machine or cold from the servery. Dinner was from a prepared Menu consisting of three choices for Starters, Main and Sweet, the order was taken by the Waiter and served as needed. The food was of good quality and over our stay dishes not repeated, the only thing that could have improved the meal would have been for the plates to have been much hotter. The staff in the Restaurant, Bars and Reception were excellent, very friendly and always happy to help. We had decent weather for our stay except for a massive lightening storm one night, when we went down for Breakfast we found that one of the large sliding glass doors had been hit by the lightening and the glass had shattered, when we went back down to the lovely pool area at 1100 it had been replaced and all back to normal! The nearest bars to the hotel are around five minutes walk along the promenade to the left = there is nothing to the right only another hotel or two, as mentioned in previous reviews the shopping area is 10 - 15 minutes walk away but the promenade is flat and it is an easy stroll, the streets up to the Old Town are a gentle climb, the large Supermarket - Mercadona is situated at the top of the town and is next to Sitges railway station, we caught the train to Barcelona from there and enjoyed a 40 minute journey in a modern, comfortable carriage. Tickets are available at the station and the trains leave every 15 minutes, the one we returned on was the double decked type, a trip to Barcelona is a must especially if you have not visited previously. Sitges is a nice quiet resort - bearing in mind we were at the end of the season - and we will return again at some point, the beach was quite flat and clean with sunbeds for hire even in October. Apart from my remarks about the cool plates in the Restaurant the only other thing we found was that several of the sunbeds around the pool were broken and need replacing but all in all very good and we will stay again. On our return home we were collected by Mini Bus for the airport and sailed through check in and security our flight departed on time and arrived back in Manchester slightly early, amazingly (for Manchester Airport!) a fast customs clearance and the luggage retrieved in good time! This hotel is not 4 star maybe 3 at best, don't get me wrong it's decorated lovely modern feel. Spacious bar pool on the small side decking area leading to pool starting to fall apart joists in areas need replacing. No tea or coffee making in rooms but spacious and clean great shower. No pool table games room etc nothing else available or any entertainment the food was ok and plenty of it. But not excellent. I said the decor is modern but they must keep on top of the maintenance Collapse

We were really looking forward to staying at the Antemare as the rooms looked fresh lovely and spacious from the pictures on their website. The reality is far from that!. The pictures are of the rooms in the main hotel whilst we were in one of the many annexes. The room was definitely in need of a freshen up.- scuff marks on the wall, floor not properly cleaned. The bathroom was small and there was black mould on the woodwork at the side of the shower, probably due to the shower flooding the floor every time you used it. You can't use the drawers in the wardrobe as the door won't open wide enough due the wide headboard - see my pictures. The balcony was pretty uninspiring, shabby tiles and table and chairs - such a shame as it actually could have been a nice spot, especially if they tidied up the gardens they overlook. Breakfast on the first day was acceptable, not a vast choice but enough to please most people. However, it was down hill from there, for the rest of the stay the hot food was lukewarm. The scrambled eggs were a congealed blob swimming in water. The evening meals were a bit hit and miss. They started serving at 8 o'clock and we went into the dining room at 8.30 and my partner asked for the lamb cutlets only to be told that they had run out! Unfortunately this was the trend until mid-week when the buffet meal was introduced. This was for the benefit of the coach party that were using the hotels restaurant. There was more choice on the buffet, but as other guests have commented, certain items ran out quickly and theses weren't replenished. The waiting staff were quite helpful and friendly but one or two seemed uninterested when you tried to engage with them. The reception staff were also helpful. There wasn't any visible sign of the hotels management. When we asked to speak to a manager about the room and meal we were informed that he was off until Monday of the following week. Upon returning to our room later that evening we were surprised to find a bottle of cava on ice waiting for us. One night we could hear loud music from the patio area near our room and went to investigate and found that there was a private wedding function. There was no prior warning to guests about this. The celebrations would be moving down to the function room we were assured and were due to finish at 12.00. The party was still in full swing when we returned to our room at 1.15 and we could hear the booming of the music. Fortunately this was resolved by closing the internal door that had been left open at the bottom of the stairs. From Monday to Friday at 7.45 we were woken by the group who congregated in the communal area outside our room before they went for the pilates class. They also made their presence felt when they returned tho their rooms to get ready for breakfast, again congregating and loudly chatting outside our room. I appreciate the hotels have to offer diverse services for extra income but with the Antemare it seem to be to the detriment of the other guests. The pool area was lovely an clean but they definitely need more loungers in that area. We used the little pool in the middle of the hotel as it was quieter round there. I can't imagine that we'd book to stay at the Antemare again, which is a shame as with some improvements it could be a really nice hotel that could compete with some of it more popular neighbors. Fortunately we've managed to book into our favourite Hotel, The Platjador (which I can highly recommend) for next years holiday. Collapse
