Despite many previous negative reviews about this hotel, our experience was mostly positive. The staff were very helpful and attentive. The rooms were quiet, serviced and functional. One downside was the small breakfast room/s and somewhat limited offerings. If you didn't arrive before 9 am you were lucky to find a table... The main difficulty was no WiFi anywhere in the hotel - despite their claim to provide it. Several local cafes did, so we had coffee there. Overall quite good. Collapse

This was our first stop for hotels along our 3 city vacation and easily the worst in comparison. the hotel itself was nicely located near baberini square which made a breeze for connection to the metro and city busses. we learned that the bus would be our best friend as the hotel is just outside the area where the things you want to see are located. but overall nice location. about 5 minutes to the trevi fountain and the spanish steps. the staff for the daytime was very nice, helpful with suggestions, maps and other help needed. the night front desk man could not be bothered to act like he cared and got mad when i couldn't follow exactly as he was saying and asked him to clarify. ( we were looking to see how long we would need to be at the train station ahead of our departure.) he seemed fed up that we were there and asking questions. The room. it was small. not any smaller than you would expect being in the heart of Rome, so the size really wasn't much of an issue. the beds were poor(again as expected) but oddly there were two twins pushed together and made separately. the other hotels we stayed in had two twins made as a king size which we preferred. AC worked very well!!!! first night (not knowing Celsius well) kept the room at 16 degrees. the breakfast was sub par... i expected light breakfast. i don't need too much but what they had wasn't great. there was the typical meats and cheeses which i enjoyed, cereal, yogurt, and some greens. the pastries that they had there were all sweet. they had taken croissants and glazed them with sugar and then more powdered sugar. they had some rolls that were slightly stale that i used to avoid too much sweet in the morning. i wish they had fruit.... the one day they did, it was fruit cocktail..... more freshness would have been great here. on a plus they had a decent cappuccino machine and a counter for espresso. eggs were terrible. i like mine a soft scramble so that wasn't a problem. but it tasted as if the eggs had been soft boiled then scrambled together.... we decided to explore for breakfast later in our trip. Stayed in this hotel before and at the end of our trip to Italy. Top marks for the perfect location in the centre of Rome, comfort and service. However sometimes when you travel things happen where assistance that is offered goes beyond reasonable expectation. When at checkin, the day before we were due to fly back home, I realised that I have left my passport in the hotel in Venice staff went beyond their duty and organised safe delivery of the passport to the airport two hours before departure. Great effort made outside the working hours to make sure I can fly home is something that I will never forget. We can judge service of the hotel in many ways but it is how staff respond and assist at the time of crisis that makes all the difference. And staff here did it in such a professional and generous way. Collapse

I was apprehensive about the hotel to book in Rome as I am Italian and it’s been hit or miss over the years because Rome is such a busy and vibrant city, you never know what you’ll get with regards to noise, proximity to sights and most important of all, if the hotel has been renovated etc. The Anglo Americano was perfect for me, my husband and our 2 girls for our 2 day visit to Rome. It is a few blocks away from Piazza Navona, Trevi fountain and the Spanish steps but yet still around the corner from all the noise and tourist activity so we weren’t bothered at all at night while sleeping. The hotel itself is great, all renovated but still has the Italian charm. Our bed in the master was very comfortable but the girls had the pull out couch and they found it lumpy. However the room itself was huge and bright and the bathrooms were pristine and newly renovated. Parking was fine, we found paid overnight parking a few blocks away. You can’t park anywhere along their street as it’s traffic controlled but you can quickly drop off and pick up luggage which worked perfect for us. We didn’t get breakfast so can’t comment on that but there are hundreds of options for all meals and corner store needs within feet of the hotel. If location and hotel amenities are important to you this is the hotel to book! Collapse
