We stayed at Angla for 6 days in mid August 2016. I was very impressed with the apartment itself, well equipped with all amenities, very modern and well decorated and spacious. It is not central but there is a direct bus 2 mins away that takes you direct to Las Ramblas in 10 mins and Urgell metro is 5 mins walk away. We were a family of 4 and found taxis a fairly cheap way to travel around the city. The reception was hardly ever manned and other than at our check in (miraculously someone was there) we only saw someone once during our entire stay and we were in and out all the time. We once walked in and found a bunch of girls stranded because no one was at check in and the phone number was not working. I found an emergency phone number that was mentioned on a poster inside the lift and gave it to them and I think they managed to get hold of someone. This apparently after they had informed them they would be late. We stayed for 6 days and the apartment was not cleaned once in this time. I thought that was a bit excessive. For stays of 3/4 days I think no cleaning is acceptable but 6 days without a clean was excessive. We ran out of toilet paper and luckily found housekeeping cleaning the apartment next door so got some rolls from here. Of course no one at reception would have been able to help us. I gave then 4 stars because although reception was not manned AT ALL this did not affect our stay and its location and amenities outweigh the cleaning aspect. Collapse

Warning – If you arrive after 8pm, there is no one to check you in. Front desk is manned from 3pm to 8pm. We were fortunate the housekeeping staff were present to store (for small fee) our luggage at 11:30am before reception arrived. When present, the reception staff was friendly and spoke English. Apartment unit 55 has large room with timeshare type accommodation. Rooms are well insulated even though hallway noise can be heard through front door. - Balcony has nice view of city if you are not concerned with heights. (Glass barrier can make one uneasy.) - Bathroom has a bidet and vanity mirror. The shower head has two holding positions, the lower one being nice for the shorter person. The bottom seal on shower door does leak water but a floor towel will keep the water from spreading. - Kitchen has microwave, refrigerator, oven/stove, sink and tea maker. - Air Conditioning (A/C) was too efficient. Temperature control cannot be set higher than 26 degree C. (Unit 55 was so cold, we had to turn off A/C for the nights.) - Intercom might be used between units or for building front door. It looks like an inactive phone and we never asked how to use it. - Washer/Dryer in one unit. This saves space but not very efficient time usage. You cannot wash another load of clothes while the dryer is in use. Dryer is in red color and in Spanish. Normal drying takes 2 hours. However, the drying cycle cannot be stopped. The electricity to washer will run even with the key card taken from slot. Note: ***** DO NOT wait until last evening before departure to wash your clothes. **** - Large safe has 4 number combination. Approximate size is 14 inches wide, 7 inches high and 12 inches deep - Key card is used for electricity. (A substitute card will not work.) - Midweek cleaning service. (We did not stay long enough to see it.) You are requested to take your own garbage out. Touch of smoke in place. Reception Staff spoke English and was friendly when present. Front desk is manned from 3pm to 8pm. We were fortunate the housekeeping staff were present to store our luggage before reception arrived at 3pm. Each of the two small elevators has maximum capacity of six persons. Other units have metal security screens because someone can hop from adjacent unit. Location - Grocery stores are nearby. A large store is less than a mile away. Mini grocery stores were about 2 blocks away. - Close to Metro station (about a 10 minute walk) - This building is in a gay community. Sister went on balcony and saw naked man hanging towel in adjacent unit. Some bar patrons were rude to female members of our group. There is a gay bar guide that one should reference before entering an establishment. Note: Unit 55 has the coldest rooms, the worse Wifi reception and the best balcony view. Unit 42 has strong Wifi and an OK balcony view. Unit 22 was hot but has two bathrooms. Unit 22 either gets hot because A/C is off without keycard in slot or the A/C was not cooling correctly. Unit 55 was near perfect. It is the largest unit (only one bathroom) for our group and was the central meeting place. The A/C was a minor issue. Our group was very satisfied with the accommodations. We as a family of four recently stayed here. The apartment itself was clean and modern. We did have a few issues with maintenance which took quite a few calls as there is never anyone at reception. There was no seal on the shower cubicle door so when you took a shower the water just poured out on the floor. After two visits from the maintenance guy this was repaired.Unlike the air conditioning unit which was leaking alot through the ceiling this was reported lots of times as was literally pouring out resulting in constantly keeping a mop and bucket to hand.It was extremely hot and the air con was needed at night.I explained to the lady it was more for their benefit I was reporting as the hallway had wooden floors and was getting ruined. This still hadnt been fixed before we left.Such a shame as nice apts but they seriously need to deal with these issues when reported as they will not stay nice for long.
