First off, the hotel is perfectly situated in a little cove about 15 min. away from Hvar Town- so it was very walkable but still felt private. The staff easy to work with and get ahold of when we arranged ferry transportation from Split and even greeted us with a personalized sign in the marina when we arrived! Upon check in, we were upgraded to a sea view room with a sweet little balcony and spacious layout. We had a little seating area, king sized bed, walk-in closet and nice bath. Housekeeping did a nice job with the room and were very helpful. Everyone we encountered was pleasant and accommodating and the concierge did a wonderful job arranging a wine tasting, couples massage at a sister hotel and sailing trip. These activities and the great service made our honeymoon so special! In our experience, the food was mediocre at times and it was pretty easy to get lost in the building, but the good outweighed the not so good and overall we would recommend this hotel. Collapse

I felt really let down by the Amfora - after staying in an air bnb in Split we were looking forward to having some luxury in a hotel for two nights. We were booked into a standard room (which took us about 15 minutes to find as the hotel is SO big, has no room number signs and there are literally no staff anywhere to help). When we entered the room it was absolutely tiny and really run down. The lights didn't work properly, the room smelt weird (dusty) and the carpets just needed a good scrub. Considering we were paying £250 a night for this, it is not good enough. The whole experience was topped off by us returning at 12am one night and finding a young couple getting down and dirty in the hotel grounds (presumably from one of the bars close to the Amfora - which does make you question security and who they are allowing in and out). The only positive I can take from the Amfora was the pool area, which to be honest you could sneak in and out of as no one seems to check if you're staying in the hotel anyway! Wouldn't return and I wish I had read reviews before booking and spending almost £500 on a terrible experience! Collapse

We were SO unbelievably disappointed with our stay at Amfora. For a place that touts itself as a 4 star they are really more 1-2 stars. We booked a deluxe room and walked into our room (after wandering around the wing BC no one really gave us directions to our room, it's a maze and they don't seem to have staff to help you carry your luggage up the stairs and to your room) and discovered we were located over the loading dock. What an amazing experience to spend 2 nights of our honeymoon listening to delivery trucks coming in and out at all hours . Our room was incredibly run down (see photos). Stains on furniture, stains on baseboards, chips and pieces of laminate missing from surfaces. We couldn't close our bathroom door the bottom of it was so damaged. For 325 euros a night I expected a 4 seasons experience. I did complain to the front desk and they gave us a small discount (50 euros per night) but what should have been done is a night comped or better an offer to move us to a better room. The concierge was rude and unhelpful on all fronts. And when we splurged 350 dollars for a cabana at the beach club we received terrible service and could only laugh when we were told they were out of almost all types of booze BC 'it was end of season'. I wrote a letter to the group who owns this hotel explaining how bad our experience was and the person replied telling me that the manager took great care of us by offering us a small discount. The final straw was the housekeeping crew knocking and walking in without waiting for a response. They did this on both mornings and in one circumstance walked in on me as I was walking into the bathroom (with no clothes) to take a shower. Horrifying!!! I wish we had done air B and B like we did in all of the other spots in Croatia. Our apartments in dubrovnik and split were 100x better than the amfora. Do not waste your money here. It's a rip off and they do not seem to care much about you having a good experience. Collapse

Wonderful resort in Hvar! This hotel has everything to offer from restaurants, to a pool, beach front, transfers, etc. Rooms are also spacious and very clean. However, we did find it to be quite expensive. Recommend you take the small trek into Hvar town as there a many wonderful restaurants and at a better price point. If you go out the front door and turn left down the street, you will find a little grocery market that has very reasonable prices. If you go to the path that leads to the main town, but turn right you will come to the famous Hula Hula bar. This is a great place to go watch the sun set. If you are ok with a bit of rowdiness, it is a lot of fun too. Collapse
