The Amadeus is located in the historic centre of Venice with easy access to the main attractions and just a few minutes from the train station, Venetian Getto and Ca D'oro Rialto Bridge and Piazza San Marco area. Rooms are comfortable and well-equipped. The common areas of the hotel feature Murano mirrors and glass, precious marbles, and sumptuous fabrics characteristic of Venetian traditional handywork. The hall, reception area, TV room, and coffee bar are pleasant and inviting spaces where guests enjoy relaxing and socialising. Another delight and an unusual advantage for a Venice hotel is the wonderfully verdant garden, in warm months transformed into a lovely drawing room in which to enjoy one's free time or pass the evening. The Mirai Creative Sushi restaurant offers the opportunity to taste the best of Japanese food where typical specialities are enriched in the heart of Venice.

First, they changed our hotel from the Amadeus, which we had booked. We walked to the Amadeus, and then were told that they had changed our room to another hotel down the street, the Principe, so we had to haul our bags down there. The room they had for us was very stuffy, and the fan did not work. When we opened the window, there was no screen, and mosquitoes came in, as there was standing water out on the roof/deck area just outside our window. The pillows were flat, like a foam board, very uncomfortable. The staff was curt, no effort made at being friendly or welcoming, very impersonal. We had just come from a wonderful small boutique hotel, where the staff went out of their way to be friendly, so the contrast with this hotel was stark. Collapse

Stayed 3 nights, time of year A/C is off so we found room hot and stuffy. We could open window but discovered we were above a restaurant's kitchen, which was noisy until 2am. We asked to move and they accommodated by giving us a garden room, much better. Still warm but we could leave window open. One great plus is proximity to train station which you need to keep in mind, as the only modes of travel are water taxi, water bus or walking. Breakfast is very good. Rooms are old and basic. About 30 min walk to St Mark's Sq Collapse

We stayed two nights in Amadeus hotel on our trip with Gate 1. We were supposed to stay at a different hotel but they moved us due to technical difficulties. The location was perfect-close to the bus and train stations. Lots of places around to eat, do a little shopping. There were two big grocery stores not far. The street the hotel is on was very busy. There were lots of young people walking to the university in the morning and going back in the evening. Our room was on a third floor with windows facing the street. The room itself was very clean and spacious enough. House keeping was very good. Amenities were very basic. No kettle or ironing board. Sleeping conditions were just horrible. The noise coming from the street was very loud and even with closed wooden shutters we could not sleep. Reception was not very helpful. All in all it is not a four star hotel but could be sufficient enough for a short stay. Collapse

Stayed at Hotel Amadeus for about 5 days. the location is unbeatable, it is pretty close to the train station although we ended up walking in circles on our arrival and were shocked to find out that it was only just right there, so it makes travelling with luggages easy, as going over all those bridges and steps with suitcases is not easy (lookout for persons who are too eager to assist with doing favors, everything comes at a price in Venice). Now back to my review. Hotel Amadeus is...different...but still ok. Not different in a bad way, it's just hard to put my finger on it. So the hotel is small in terms of size, so it somehow feels less like a hotel and more personal like a house. The room is tastefully decorated and the size was pretty decent. The bathroom was large and clean with marble tiles. The hotel itself (as are most things in Venice) is very traditional and elegant, filled with old world charm so it still felt dated. The breakfast buffet is nothing to write about, we actually had better breakfast offerings in Vienna. Very basic and not very tasty. There needs to be security or some form of doorman, as we had a guy follow us straight into the hotel one day, so instead of going in the elevator we went straight to the front desk as it was obvious that he was not a guest there. One night we were also locked out after coming in late (I can understand why they would close the door due to security reasons) but can you imagine knocking on the glass door at 2:00a.m. in the morning for someone to come and let you in. Some of these things are not to the fault of the hotel itself as its just how things are in Venice, and you have to learn to appreciate things for what they are. Its an old city, a beautiful one at that and as such certain things comes with the territory. All in all the hotel was not so bad although customer service could have been better at the front the desk. Oh and the key is rather heavy. Have fun! the rooms are nice and the location is spot on. One of the best features of this hotel is its proximity to the train station. Especially if you have to check out and catch an early train. The hotel is nice enough when you enter. The breakfast buffet is on the 1st floor straight ahead past the reception. This hotel was part of a Gate1 travel package. The gentleman at the reception desk was pleasant, there was a bell hop working the one tiny elevator they have, can't miss it. It's to the right of the front desk. I recommend the stairs. We were too early to check in but the receptionist offered to hold our precious luggage if we wanted to step out and explore right away. Let it be known that they had at least 20 other pieces of luggage in the main area off to the side that they were watching, we left ours and had no problem when we returned later that 1st day. Our room was on the 3rd floor, on the right, if you walk out of the elevator. It had a window that faced towards the back of the hotel where there's some kind of open area/garden. I see many reviews complained about the bathrooms, I found this one to be new and modern. The shower has that weird half panel of glass that I've seen in other hotels in other countries and the toilet is modern looking but Italian toilets are different from the ones I'm used to in America. The bathroom also came with a fancy towel heater, it was a nice touch especially in February. Some people are concerned with safety when searching hotels. Well, here's my experience. The hotel room has a regular key and lock mechanism as opposed to the modern electronic hotel card you would expect. We had a little confusion working the lock and we actually left our hotel room cracked slightly open on 2 occasions completely unlocked! Not one thing was missing. The breakfast buffet is standard, take some of those packaged biscotto and crackers with you at the start of your day. You're going to get hungry. I see a lot of people complain about rude employees but I wonder if they took the time to learn even a couple of phrases in the local language, it can only help. As for some unpleasant reviews of the hotel rooms, I can't speak to those because I only saw my room. Overall, I was very happy with the hotel and would recommend it to anyone. It's nice enough but if it wasn't so close to the train station I might only rate it average. Very Good. Collapse
