From the outside this hotel looks great, beautiful setting and surrounding grounds and manicured lawns But once inside be warned, broken chairs and tables, short staffed at reception and bars, inedible re heated breakfast foods, threadbare carpets in the bedroom and communal areas, the fist night the room had no curtains just dress curtains with voil underneath, only noticed this before I was about to sleep and then had all the hassle of changing rooms otherwise as soon as the sun came up room flooded with light, Both bathrooms in each room I had at this hotel were broken tiles and fixtures falling off, grouting was black in places and towels funny off grey colour and paper thin after years of use, The patio door wouldn't lock and the air conditioning wasn't working, the whole stay there was always something wrong It needs a full refurbishment and full compliment of staff Couldn't get a coffee or tea in the morning as the bar didn't open until 9am to purchase one, No one to help with luggage on arrival, This is not a 4 star hotel. At best it's a 2 star Collapse

Who ever heard of a 4* hotel with no swimming pool ? They closed the swimming pools and literally only cater for golfers !! I came here as it was recommended but we won't be back. Even to check in was a nightmare as everyone just pushed in front and the receptionist served them, no help with all our bags, no customer service at all. Don't waste your time here if you want to relax and swim !! Collapse
A lot of good but had lots of failings.

We were a party of 12 golfers staying for 7 nights. The good news was that it had well appointed rooms, good quality food, lovely swimming pool area, and lovely maintained grounds. The golf course greens were in poor condition. The bad news was that it was seriously understaffed. 1 There was only one person on reception dealing with registration and checking out, as well as attending to guests queries. 2 There was mainly only one barman (sometimes two) attending to drinks, coffees and snacks. He was rushed off his feet. The waiting time to order a drink was unacceptable. 3 The bar ran out of draft beer, which was not replaced until the next day. It also ran out of the local gin (Larios), and Beefeater, neither which were replaced during our stay. 4 Neither of the internet terminals in reception were working. 5 At breakfast time, often there were no cereal bowls or larger coffee cups immediately available. 6 At evening meal time the serving utensils for salads, cold meats etc were not there and had to be asked for. Not a big deal as they came shortly. But attention to detail? 7 At the evening meal, glasses were on the table with a bottle of water. Good news you think. But if you ordered wine you had to use the same glass, or pinch glasses from other tables. At least we had a laugh! Collapse

Stayed a week in this hotel, to say very disappointed is an understatemeny, definitely does not merit 4 stars for the following reasons: The wafer thin, old, off white towels FULL OF STAINS left everyday in our bathroom even after compaining to the Chamber Maid and Reception, disgusting and unacceptable standard of hygiene. Carpet in our room was full of stains Balcony curtain was torn and stained Shower had black mold and very grubby in the corners. The swimming pool tiles were disgustingly filthy, any desire to cool off in the pool quickly disappeared. The dirty plastic table cloths in the restaurant when we went for breakfast No air conditioning on in the corridor on our floor hence all the dead neglected plants in the corridor. We complained about the dirty room and disgusting towels the first day we arrived and were told they would change us to another room but this never materialised-so much for customer service. Overall bad experience, the hotel is badly neglected, staff unprofessional and we would never return. Collapse

Booked a 5 night stay at the Hotel Alicante Golf and had a most relaxing time. The hotel is in a great location 800m walk from the mot amazing beach of Playas San Juan. The rooms could do with a bit of an upgrade, rather old fashioned but extremely large and very clean and comfortable. I was staying in room 308 which had a huge wrap round balcony which got the sun from sunrise to sunset. The pool was lovely when lit up in the evening and extremely nice to swim in. The sunbeds were plentiful and very comfortable, although, the area is surrounded by trees so you had to chase the sun around if you wanted to lie in the sun. The maids were in every day and the linen was lovely and crispy white. Full toiletries included, however, the negative for me was that there was no tea and coffee making facilities in the room, and although this is a very "British" thing, the last 3 Spanish hotels I have stayed in provided this. The hotel, however, were happy to provide me with a flask of hot water each time I returned to my room so I was happy with this. There is a Consum Supermarket 1km away which was great for snacks and water as there are NO shops in the surrounding vicinity (not even at the beach). There is also a fabulous eating mall across the road which has Italian, Spanish, Sushi and a lovely steak restaurant. There was a wedding on the Saturday of my stay but this caused no disruption and was lovely to watch from my balcony, also a childrens birthday party on the Sunday, which also caused no disruption and was great to see how the Spanish children celebrate birthdays. I am led to believe that San Juan is a very upmarket area and this was obvious from the lovely residential buildings. Along the sea front was a lovely wide promenade, full of walkers and joggers enjoying the sunshine and clean and flat streets. The tram is 5 minutes walk and very cheap at 1.45 euros to Alicante centre and nearby El Campello. All in all this is a great area for a getaway break and I loved every minute. I did not eat in the hotel but for no other reason than there were other places outside which appealed to me. The staff were great and I had no issues with anything in the hotel. Collapse
