Stayed for a week at the Alameda, returned yesterday. Room located at the back of the hotel, overlooking an alley that leads up to all the tapas restaurants, bars and shops. Room was great, spacious, with great bathroom (no bath), the shower was good, but the room lacked storage space… Staff on reception were friendly and helpful. And the bar/cafe was lovely at the front of the hotel - sitting outside there of a late afternoon/early evening was an absolute joy! Only negative was the breakfast. We tried it once, that was enough. Lack of choice, room, very hot and the tea was shocking. We ate out for breakfast from then on. Would definitely stay again. Thank you Alameda! Collapse

Positives: The staff are friendly and obliging. They were always responsive and had a positive, helpful outlook. My room on the fourth floor was big enough for me with a very generous balcony. It was also at the back so there was virtually no noise disturbance. The bed was comfortable I booked early so the room was reasonably costed. The breakfast was an adequate selection to cater for both English/Irish and Continental tastes. There was also plenty of food for second/third helpings. It is right in the heart of old town so a lot of the amenities and attractions are easily accessible. Negatives: The fridge was locked so I had to pay a €6 rent fee to access it. I have never had that before. Also, likewise, with the safe. This time it was €20 - €10 rent and €10 deposit fee (which is refundable). Still, I have never had to pay for a safe box before. There was often a splash back of water on my clothes from the sink so had to be careful with monitoring the level of it coming out. The toilet seat was loose and I had to fix it back in on a few occasions. However, these negatives did not hamper my enjoyment. I only turned on the TV once to see what I could see. I did get the BBC and a lot of other Continental channels. It would not bother me if there was no TV in a room as I do not go on holiday to watch it. It does seem that peoples experiences here are dictated by the room they get. There appears to be not a standard experience in regards to them. I can only say that my room was fine, but maybe I got lucky. However, I would definitely come back here again if visiting Benidorm. Hopefully, getting another good room. Collapse

Arrived at 12.45 room not ready decided to suss out the local area had been to Benidorm before but staying at the opposite end. Returned to the hotel for dinner prior to room being ready. First entered small basement dinning room to the glare of other guests! Full board but did not include a drink. Was shown a table with plastic seating and then advised to help selves to the Buffett. This incorporated three fish dishes one undercooked pork dish and a limited salad. Bread also available but no butter! Dinner was diabolical! I don't eat fish or pork my friend is a less fussy eater but she was unable to manage. Collected luggage and headed to the room. Receptionist advised if room not suitable to let her know and we could change in the morning. This made me and my friend very nervous. Arrived in the room and first impressions seemed ok. Went down hill terribly from here! Drew back curtains to reveal what we thought was a blind at first glance but in actual fact was the wall! The wall had floor to ceiling curtain but this covered a window 10 ft high! That was about 45cms in depth and metre or so long! That was the room with a view!! Looking up through the slither of a window showed jail rails across the window some sky but the walls of the buildings were the biggest feature! Bathroom window opened to produce a screen which behind showed a network of pipes! The fire safety procedure states to climb out the window block the door with wet clothing of the fire route is unavailable! Not likely in this room! The plug was broken so left us with one for two phones! One watch and one spare battery pack! Safe was unavailable must be a charge! Fridge was locked must again be a charge! And exposed electrical wiring near to the air con. Red light in bathroom unsure why! To shower you need to hold the hose and literally hose your self down as it won't position on the stand! And leaks! The air con is shocking won't go below 16! No window so room was unbearably warm! The beds were of different heights which looked odd! The reception staff changed, new male receptionist didn't speak and wasn't friendly when coming too and fro from the hotel. Contacted tour operator to move hotel or change board basis and be refunded! Hotel not responding! So had to stay the night! Unsure what will happen only here 4 days so a significant part spent in a really poor room with inedible food! In general, location is good plenty to eat around the hotel and the beach isn't too far there's a cove in one direction then the main strip in the opposite. Main strip entertainment is spot on a lot of variety and enough to keep you going. Benidorm is easy to navigate and good for couples families and friends but this hotel needs to check the facilities and improve the menu. You've got some English channels however audio altered to help with those sight impaired so gave a running commentary of actions of actors in-between them speaking! Only day one likely to change hotel or st least the room as a minimum! Won't help with changing the menu or the experience had to date. Shame really as the decor isn't bad but everything else let's it down! Pictures also showed a pool! No pool however there is meant to be a roof terrace but at 34 degrees wasn't venturing up there! We have stayed at this hotel several times with mum and dad, and recently with dad and a very good friend. The hotel has been updated in the last few years and the rooms are very modern, mostly black and white interiors which are in keeping with the outside of the hotel. The staff are very respectful and will accomadate requests if possible, they even remembered our party each time we booked in which made you feel welcome in the first instance. Most rooms have walk in showers and good air conditioning. There are fridges you can rent for your stay. The rooms at the front have balconys which you can sit out on. The rear of the hotel have very small balconys just enough to stand outside, but the Hotel is situated in the heat of the old town of Benidorm so this hotel appears to be adapted, as space is limited. Some rooms on the corner have larger balconys. However it can be a little noisey up to 2 am and at the weekends, The hotel has a lounge/ bar area, and seating outside which is fantastic to people watch, relax and enjoy the atmosphere. This is a 3 star hotel and the dinning room is on the lower ground, and there is a lift accessible for older people or those with a Disability. The food is basic but well presented and we found no problems choosing something from the menu, the breakfasts we good. You are able to choose water or wine at on xtra cost which was a surprise, The hotel is a short distance from either the Levannte or Poniente beaches either side of the old town. There are so many bars, cafes and reasturants near by, you can book a room and eat out every night if you desire. On the whole compared to other hotels, it's a good choice for middle aged and older couples and families. Collapse
