This is the third time we have stopped at this budget hotel. The rooms are clean and the beds comfortable. We had a lovely evening meal, the breakfast is a cold buffet, toast you make yourself, bread rolls, cakes, cheese & meats, yogurts, fruit and fruit juice. Personally I would prefer a tea pot for my cupper, you have to go to the bar and ask for a cup of tea or coffee. I did notice someone had a hot chocolate so all in all a good all round choice of food and drinks. We went with friends to visit the caves (amazing) just a short walk up the road. We noticed quite a number of people came to the hotel for lunch a 9 euro menu del dia, so presume they had been or going to the caves. There is a bus stop very close to the hotel and its 10 euro taxi ride to Nerja, we had a car its about a 15 minute drive to the centre. There isn't a lot to do round the hotel unless you want to just sit round the pool you need to go down into Nerja for the shops and bars Collapse

Having stayed at Al Andalus for 9 nights at the end of September to the beginning of October 2016, we really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is located outside Nerja but very close to the Caves and is handy for buses into Nerja and Malaga. On our arrival, we were informed that the hotel was very busy and we were allocated an apartment just behind the main building. This consisted of a very spacious living area with an en-suite bathroom with a good shower and plenty of accessories and towels. We were on a half-board basis and the menu selection was excellent and of a very high standard. Breakfast consisted of a continental variety with plenty of tea and coffee available. All of the hotel staff were found to be very approachable and always friendly. A special mention is given to our initial contact, (Maria) Victoria, who was extremely well mannered and very helpful during our first few days - before she went on holiday herself. The Singing Waiter, Modesto, is also not to be missed. Although this hotel is not a 5* establishment but it does make up for this with their customer care, friendliness and rustic charm. We would consider visiting again. Collapse

Stayed for 2 nights (15th and 16th of September) having been dridentified out of our apartment by a large group of noisy singles moving in above . I drove up to the hotel to ask about availability and they were so accommodating and sympathetic, we stayed half board and had a pleasant (QUIET) room . The buffet breakfast was varied and well-stocked with bread , meat , cheese , yogurts, fresh fruit, cereals and pastries. Plenty of coffee and juice too . Dinner was 3 course and more than adequate with house wine at only €9 a bottle . It has a garden and small pool which was lovely. It would not be an overstatement to say this hotel and it's friendly staff saved our holiday, very reasonably priced too . Thank you Al Andalus. Collapse

I stayed in this hotel for one week, by accident as via Booking.com, I thought I was holding the room, not paying in full! In spite of emailing and calling the hotel, they would not cancel my booking. My reason for cancelling was that this hotel is in Maro NOT Nerja. There is a bus into Nerja but stops quite early in the evening so I got a taxi back each day. Not cheap at €10. I found the staff indifferent on the whole, in spite of my attempts at speaking Spanish. The small room I was allocated was adequate but nothing special. My shower leaked (fitting worn out), air con had no control, TV remote didn't work, and most unpleasantly, when using sink and bidet together, a disgusting load of black sludge came up into the bath from the plughole. Sheets and towels changed daily which was a nice bonus. Balcony offers a lovely view, but large enough only to dry my towel off. Breakfast was distinctly average with bread products often stale. Flies everywhere too on uncovered foods. The only plus was the freshly made ground coffee! Fixtures and fittings, if you're bothered by such stuff, were very tired and tatty. Horrible plastic chairs inside dining area with very heavy table clothes that serve to rest on your legs, adding to uncomfortable level of heat. Swimming pool is tiny; much smaller than photo suggests. Blinds were hanging off and need re-attaching in places. This hotel, which has some plus points, could be vastly improved with a general tidy up of the place (and tea/coffee making facilities in the room!). Also, as a middle aged, female, solo traveller, I would have so appreciated just the smallest amount of hospitality and friendliness. I would not recommend this hotel. Collapse

Actually to be fare our over all stay was fine and we had a great time at Nerja which is a nice destination actually. Very close to the caves which is a must see and don't miss the tschu tschu train around the lively town. All the Staff are very helpful, smiling, and professional. Breakfast not bad and quite enough! Excellent Expresso Pool is small but cute, kidds had fun in it! House keeping is good, enough towels and shampoo. But : Family room we got on second floor was very strangely furnished,( 2 single beds put together to make a double bed) Walls were so empty. and ventilation not good in big bed room, as the only Ac. and balcony are in kids room and bathroom needs some artistic touch. No TV in master bedroom, and a tiny flat screen in kids room. That's about all fellows..! .Thx is due to that lovely man who gave us our room 4 o'clock in the morning very fast and with a great smile! Never got his name sorry for that! Collapse
