Hotel was lovely, staff were excellent and breakfast was very tasty. The room itself was tired and dated, not even in keeping with the theme of the venue. The carpet had a rip in it at the bathroom door, the furniture was all marked and/or chipped, the 2 arm chairs were filthy and stained, the curtains were old and dull looking and the bed was very uncomfortable to the point I am still suffering with a sore shoulder. As there was a wedding on that same night we struggled with parking and my wife was disturbed on several occasions around 2-3am with drunken guests in the hall and next door. Collapse

I was there on business and have been there many times . I like it because of the nice restaurant and Spa even though most of the time the jacuzzi does not work. This time the shower in my room did not work, so I reported it and was assured it would be repaired. I also reserved a table in the restaurant for that evening as I was to be joined by family members. After work I returned to the hotel and went straight to the spa for a swim and a shower. After that it was time for dinner. Restaurant staff could not find my reservation, which was embarrassing, but managed to accommodate us. In the morning I went to use the shower and it still didn't work. Fortunately the spa with the soon to be repaired jacuzzi, was open so used their facilities. This used to be a good hotel but lately standards are slipping, stained mattresses in my room, broken lockers in the changing area, poor receptionist on check in to name a few. Restaurant staff are still nice and helpful and the food is good but Infuture I will be asking my company to take their business elsewhere. Collapse

Stayed here for two nights due to a wedding being held there. Cannot fault the venue held for the wedding ceremony or reception at all, it was lovely decorated and very well laid out. The room I stayed in however was not worth the nearly £300 paid. I was so disappointed and now actually regret not saying anything when I left. The main reason I didn't mention anything was because of the wedding I attended, I didn't like to make a fuss on such a special occasion. The reasons for my disappointment were that this place is named castle hotel and spa, by that title you expect a little luxury. Our room had iron marks on the carpet, light shades were missing, holes were in the ceiling by the window and in the wall by the bathroom door and the shower was a mess. The shower was somehow placed in the middle of the bath tub which meant water went absolutely everywhere! The mattress has clearly seen better days too and was dipped in the middle, very unpleasant. Also the light outside our room was hanging through the hole....I noticed this on quite a few doors I passed in the corridor too. The spa was a little shabby, it felt unclean and not luxury at all, plus the Jacuzzi was out of order and by the look of it for quite some time. The only good thing that I can rate highly was the food. Its was very lovely and plentiful and we enjoyed all our meals we had here. I have to say I probably wouldn't come back and if I had to recommend I would unfortunately not which is a shame because the wedding was so beautiful. Collapse

Stated at Airth Castle for 2 nights last week, this was for a wedding and had been booked months in advance. From regularly checking the reviews on this site I was absolutely dreading it, but I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised. Yes, the rooms aren't the nicest looking or as modern as the reception, bar etc but the rooms are large, clean and comfortable. All of the staff that we dealt with were very polite and helpful and the restaurant was great. Several of my friends also stayed and as far as i'm aware none of them had any complaints. For me personally I would have been disappointed if I'd booked a Spa Day, as although the facilities are very nice, children being allowed to use them made it feel like the local baths with all the dive bombing going on, not very relaxing. If I happened to be in the area again I would return, but wouldn't make a special trip. Collapse

Stayed here sat 15th with my wife and 2 kids in one room. Sister and mother in another and brother and wife in another. Both my mums and brothers room were terrible if I had walked in to those I'd have walked straight back out, both had dogs staying so had to pay extra however the standard of these rooms don't merit the extra money. Furniture falling apart, hair dryer older than the castle nowhere near the star rating. My room was a shambles 3 separate occasions I had people round, no bulbs in the lamps hairdryer not working all pretty minor but tiles on toilet floor both cracked and loose. So loose my kids both tripped, toilet door did not close so my little one 17months old quite curious kept going to toilet and pushing door which in turn kept crashing against glass shower curtain it was unsafe. Do you know what I was told to stop it? Jam a peice of cardboard under the door, really? Wardrobe door hanging off I'd to force it closed so it didn't jam on one of the kids fingers. The best part around about a foot off the floor a socket loose off the wall I had to tighten it up myself with a spoon, I was told the rooms do need updated, updated it is unfit at night we sat in the small area outside reception to nurse my kid to sleep because the room wasn't fit for him to walk around. I have complained to reception twice before spoke to manager who informed me person above her would deal with it, 5 days later I've called 3 separate times to be told I'll be called back same day but nothing still.
