CARL is the man!! He is the baggage check and concierge master! He and his team were wonderful and accommodating while we waited for our room to be ready. Carl offered complimentary drinks and also suggested a GREAT little diner called Friedmans that was just about a 30 second walk. The rooms are clean and the layout is just like home; a small kitchen, a large enough bathroom, table, chairs, desk, etc. all with a modern look/feel. The window opens some to allow fresh air (I HATE hotels that do not allow the windows to open even a little bit). Overall a great hotel and will definitely stay again when in NYC. Hope to arrive to find Carl still there - what a pleasure this staff was!!! Collapse

We are a family of 5 who stayed here for 4 nights in early July. We loved it. The greeting we got from Andrew was first class, friendly and very welcoming. We had been traveling for 16hrs and had arrived before our check in time. Andrew got us into our room early, got us an upgraded room and got us some water/drinks and snacks for the kids. Very welcome and much needed. We were here to see New York so we weren't in the hotel too much. It did give us everything we needed in terms of a comfortable bed and good shower and free wifi kept the kids happy. I would agree with some reviewers that some aspects of the hotel could do with an upgrade. However, we have since stayed in a more plush, higher end hotel that was not as welcoming and, although service was efficient, lacked warmth and personality. We say bravo Stewart Hotel. Keep your great people and continue with the warm welcome. Collapse

I stayed with my family of 4 here from July 5th to the 11th. The 1st couple days of our stay went fairly well until Friday our toilet would not stop running. The "engineer" they sent insisted that's just how toilets sounds? Umm no! He ended up doing something to it, to Make the noise a little more tolerable. The next day it rained in the morning and while we were getting dressed right in the middle of our room a huge leak started coming from the ceiling in the middle of the room! We literally had to run and get a trash can to catch all the water pouring in! It was horrible! Management then sent an "engineer" to come in to fix the leak. We were just stepping out as he arrived but when we returned several hours later we walked into our room with Just a larger trash can right in the middle of our room! No message or note to inform if the problem was even fixed! Luckily it stopped raining! But who just leaves a garbage can in the middle of guests paying over $400 a night for a room. Foward one more day to walking in from a long hot day of walking all over NYC to a power outage. We come in and the hotel is dark except for scattered glow sticks. Myself, husband, 1 year old and 12 year old were forced to walk up 25 floors with no help at all. We had just bought groceries and waters for our room, we even asked for help and all they said is we can wait out the outtage in the lobby. My daughter needed to eat and she needed her milk that was probably spoiled now that the electricity was out. We ended up walking up 25 floors, which than caused me to have an asthma attack! I couldn't even plug in my nebulizer to get any type of relief. I struggled with my breathing for about 2 hours before I felt a little normal again. It was the worst hotel experience I could have ever encountered. Oh I also forgot to mention we got stuck in the lobby elevator for about 10 minutes. We were just walking out to enjoy our day and the elevator just stops mid floor. Luckily there was a worker in the elevator that knew exactly who to call to get us out! There was also another power outrage the following night...by this time I was so over it. I showered in the dark, ate our dinner in the dark, and fell asleep with no air, all amenities we paid for. We were promised a refund for one of our nights, which surely was not enough to pay for the suffering we went through, but I was so irate and exhausted that I was not going to argue. Eugenia, one of managers promised our refund which we did not receive! Horrible horrible establishment! Do not stay here! Anywhere but this horrible hotel! Collapse
