So many issues at this hotel, if you're used to the "comforts" of Marriott you should stay elsewhere. This is a hotel that would be unable to keep even the Fairfield Inn designation in America, let alone an AC Hotel. 1. No free breakfast for gold/platinum. They in fact do not acknowledge your status at all, and your only perk is access to the "high speed internet". More on that.. 2. Internet sucks. It drops endlessly. I couldn't use it with my chromecast to watch tv, and I couldn't use it for Wi-Fi calls without it dropping and freezing. The signal strength is horrible and the speed is below average at best. 3. The bed. Very uncomfortable. They do not have any feather pillows, and the "comforter" on my bed was literally a sheet. I had to choose between sleeping under a single sheet all night and using the filthy, unwashed extra comforter in the closet. 4. No iron. Don't bring wrinkled suitcase clothes here, as this may be the first hotel I've ever stayed in with no iron. Surely I can call and request one? Nope, the only way is to pay for ironing service which starts at 5 euro an item. Wow. 5. The AC sucks. I turned it all the way down to 15C to test and it was still warm in the room the next day. I could barely sleep. Maybe that's why they give no comforter? 6. Half of the outlets don't work. 7. You cannot turn off the porch light, which shines into your window all night unless you close the blinds perfectly. 8. My "nonsmoking" room had an ashtray on the porch. If you can smoke on the porch it's going to make the room stink too, obviously. I won't be back. Collapse

The hotel is perfectly located for visiting the many attractions on offer in Malaga. As with many others who have reviewed the hotel we had a room with a balcony overlooking the harbour, very pleasant and well worth the extra money. The room was kept spotlessly clean by our maid, absolutely no complaints whatsoever. We ate out for breakfast, lunch and dinner and there is certainly plenty of choice on offer. We took the advice of friends who suggested it was worthwhile sampling the many restaurants close to the hotel rather than 'eat in' and this proved to be the case. The only negative I would comment on, and it is a minor one, is in respect of the pool area where there is no control over who uses the small number of sun beds available. They do attempt to cordon off part of the area around the pool and post a sign stating access is restricted to hotel guests. Nobody is actually challenged as to whether or not they are guests of the hotel and upon requesting a towel are merely asked to provide their room number. I would have thought you should be asked to show your room key? I believe the hotel charges non guests 8 euros if they wish to visit the hotel at night to enjoy the spectacular views from the rooftop pool. How they police this I don't know but there is a lift on the right hand side just past reception which if you use, takes you to the the 13th floor where you merely take the stairs to the rooftop pool. Apart from the pool issue I have no complaints, lovely hotel and very friendly and efficient staff. Highly recommend you consider booking if visiting Malaga, you won't be disappointed. Collapse

I stayed at the AC Hotel Málaga Palacio with my girlfriend while on vacation. Here are my key takeaways from my stay: Pros: - Unbeatable location: You are steps from a beautiful shopping area, within walking distance to main attractions such as Alcazaba, Gibralfaro, the Pablo Picasso museum, and the Port of Málaga. - Rooftop pool: 360-degree views of Málaga from the rooftop pool. - Well priced, at least I thought so coming from Canada. - Very clean, up-to-date rooms. - Friendly and helpful concierge. - Good breakfast. - Taxis waiting out front at all times, so easy to get back to the airport when ready. - Ability to collect Marriott Rewards points. Cons: - Unfriendly bartenders at rooftop pool, for the most part. - Unfriendly staff at the front desk, for the most part. - Hotel is quite unattractive from the outside. - Many cigarette smokers at the rooftop pool (which bothered me, but may not be a problem for others). - Rooftop pool area is quite congested, so it's difficult to get a seat unless you arrive at 10:00 on-the-dot. The pool area is blocked off until 10:00 – you cannot even access the floor by elevator until this time. The chairs at the rooftop pool are not traditional cots, and are a bit uncomfortable. Also, it is very easy to be splashed by children running around and jumping into the pool while you're sitting at your table having a drink. Conclusion: - If I were to return to Málaga on vacation, I would probably try the Room Mate Valeria one block away, where I thought had the better rooftop for drinks and friendlier bartenders. – If I were to return to Málaga on business, I would stay at the AC Hotel Málaga Palacio again. Good hotel for business travellers but not ideal for a vacationing couple. But that's just based on my own experience. Collapse
