Arrival without booking at 10:30 pm dying for a bed. A slow finding out if there's a room starts. Booing.com said there was, but in a 35-room hotel they don't know and need to check. The price he offers is higher than in Booking.com and when I suggest that I can instantly book it there he says no. 5 more min typing in the computer. In the process the only guy takes two long phone calls. After the second he says he needs to go to attend a room service and that we should wait. When 15 min later he is back, after my comment of "I hope now you're paying attention to us" he answers back that we can look for another hotel if we want. We certainly did. We left and found other much nicer, faster and warmer receptionist. Collapse

Our family group of eight people stayed at this hotel for two nights (four rooms). We used our Visa cards to get a free breakfast (which was wonderful). The front desk staff was so friendly - Especially Rebecca. I accidentally left my sport coat in the closet of my room as we went on a cruise ship. Rebecca found it, and saved it for me to pick up two weeks later when the ship came back to Barcelona. I ran in on the way to the airport and she had it ready for me. Outstanding service! The hotel only has about 36 rooms and is reasonably priced compared to other Barcelona hotels, but with the service expected in a Marriott hotel (great service by the English speaking staff). It is only a few blocks from the Hop-On-Hop-Off bus, and you can get your tickets at the hotel's front desk. They have internet (Enhanced Internet is free for Marriott Gold members). Even if you are not a Gold Marriott member, this is a great hotel. It is a couple of blocks from a nice park - great for the morning run, or in my case a place to relax and smoke a cigar. I highly recommend this hotel when in Barcelona. Collapse

The hotel was nicely situated in the city closer to the mountain than the cruise port. The staff were friendly and quite accommodating as we arrived early from our flight and were let into one room for storage of our luggage. We found the room to be typical of European hotels a bit small compared to US but nicely situated. The bathroom was rather open with frosted glass surrounding it rather than actual walls. The power points (outlets) were European so converters were needed for us. Taxi fare to the cruise port was 30€ from here. The breakfast was good and open at appropriate times, offering both hot and cold options. The front desk staff were very helpful at arranging rides and providing directions for us. Clean and comfortable accommodations. Would definitely stay here again. Collapse

Possibly one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed at in my entire life. I have been to motels in thirds world countries that are painted better than this. There is about one advantage of staying at this place - the hotel is within walking distance of shopping centers, a few good restaurants, and public transportation. Now let me tell you everything that was wrong with this hotel during my stay in Roon 202: 1. The sink would not drain properly. We brought our baby with us and it was incredibly tough to wash bottles in the sink when the water won't drain (pictures attached) 2. The shower space has mold all over the place (pictures attached) 3. No clock, safe or iron box/board available in the room 4. Room is extremely small but rates are comparable to other better hotels 5. The hotel staff are all nice but tend to either give you bad information or information that contradicts other staff members (more on this later) 6. There are two phones in the room, which makes no sense because the room is extremely small and doesn't need it 7. Some hotel staff may tend to argue with you about the quality of the hotel (more on this later) 8. The AC isn't as powerful as you'd expect it to be 9. Being a Marriott gold member means absolutely nothing here 10. Supposedly there are no upgrades for rooms at this hotel (more to come on this later) Every time I asked for a better room, I got one of 4 answers: 1. There are no upgrades available right now 2. All 36 rooms that this hotel has are exactly the same 3. All the "superior" rooms are taken (even though I was told that there are no room upgrades and that all rooms are built the same) 4. Room 202 (the room I was in) is one of the best rooms in the hotel (which I find hard to believe) So I basically had to suck it up and live in hell for a week during my time in Barcelona. I did have one instance where I tried to explain to the staff about the condition of my room, and he had the nerve to argue with me. I was told that the rates were lower in this hotel, which is why they don't have things such as clocks/safes/iron boxes and boards. I was told that the AC works and that I need to give it time to cool the small room (I sometimes had to wait upwards of 2 hours). I was told that the sink was functioning even though it backed up constantly. I was told that my complaints would be relayed to the manager once he got back from vacation on Monday (still haven't heard anything from him). All in all, my best possible recommendation is for you to pay a little more and stay at a better hotel than to experience everything I did. Stay away from this hell hole. Collapse

When reviewing a hotel, I believe we should be fair and comment on whether the property matches what it claims to be. In short, if something is 3 stars, don't complain if it does not match 5 star expectations. I stayed here for 2 weeks (13 nights). The rooms are very, very small. I think for a couple staying here, they best really like each other as well as plan to spend most, if not all of their time out of the room. Short of a desk chair, there is no space to sit besides on the bed. The rooms have a small refrig, which is nice if you want to bring back food. You are about 4 blocks from a very large Corte Ingles store which houses a massive grocery store in the basement. There are a few small markets nearby that are open 24 hours/ 7 Days a week. Breakfast is okay and the same, over all the days I was there. Its a good variety and will get the job done (filling your stomach), but it's not something to write home about. I found the staff to be polite and for the most part very friendly. Look, we all have our good days and then some not so good days. I was a little disappointed that as a Marriott Platinum member, someone staying for two weeks, the first room I was offered was across the elevator and barely enough room to put one bag down. Went downstairs and said this wasn't going to work. Took a little bit of pressing before I was magically offered a slightly better room, away from the elevators with a tiny bit more space..meaning I didn't have to trip over my bag on the way to the bathroom! The gym might as well be closed. It's in a bunker sized room, couple of treadmills/ station bikes, a TV and that's it. No room to really do anything. Location is pretty good. You can catch a bus to the gothic area, if you want. Not the best location for the metro at all. I was there for work and I was only about a 20 min walk to the office. Would probably not stay there again if I was staying this long. Too confining. My room was definitely dated. The ceiling in the bathroom was a study in mold stains. Whatever vent fan they might have had was either inadequate or not working. The AC leaves much to be desired. I had it on the lowest setting possible and it barely did the job. Only by keeping the curtains closed did I have a chance to keep the room cool enough Collapse
