Finally there is a Marriott choice in Florence and is good, clean renovated facility with all amenities a business travel would normally require. It’s not a plush hotel but good comfortable setting with large up to date rooms (mine was a superior room, not sure about standard ones). Service is very good, the resultant is rather limited but quite adequate. Only improvement I would have like to see is better lighting in the bathroom. Collapse

We stayed in Florence for one night before we flew home the next day. As soon as I walked in I was blown away by this hotel. The bar was so fancy!! We had planned to go to dinner and then go out around town but instead we decided to call it an early night and come back to the bar after dinner. Rooms were decent size and everything was clean. All of the staff were very accommodating. Only hiccup is that the parking situation is a little strange and you have to get a parking pass and then drive around back to an underground parking deck but it's free so that's nice! This is also a short ride to the airport. I loved this hotel will be back. Collapse

We made the AC Hotel Firenze our home base for half of a 3.5 week trip to Italy, 2 nights to acclimate, then 10 nights at the end. This is a modern euro-style biz class Spanish hotel chain that became a Marriott subsidiary. We got an upgrade to a slightly larger end room for 2 nights (but not for the other 10). For Happy Hour the AC has free tapas at the bar. Dinner is served in the same open floorplan area. A pricy breakfast is served in a separate restaurant. There's also a limited room service menu. Food rating: Outstanding to Very Good. Tapas...interesting! Dinner excellent to outstanding, breakfast good (Euro standard, excellent). Check-in and all other staff interractions: Outstanding to Acceptable. The AC puts their best English speakers on the front desk, mixed with those who speak it less well. Grade A for their English vs. my tourist-Italian. The Italians are a very gracious people. One staff member went out of his way, on his own time, to recover 150 euros for bogus tickets we had!! We were stunned and more grateful than I can say. I am mobility-impaired so I was most concerned about the location; walking to/from the many nearby restaurants, shopping, and the tram was... difficult but doable. We used the English-speaking Radio Taxi Firenze to/from the airport and sightseeing excursions. Using the T-1 tram was easy so we went to several of its 14 stops. The bus was difficult; only 1 stop was sort of close by. The Carrefour Express was great for groceries (open 730am to midight)! TIPS: There's a spot to sit on the way to the grocery near the ancient stone city gate Porta al Prato. Get ice from the bar, get a free bottle of water daily from the maid. Great bathtub and closet! We used the in-room safe, dinky fridge, microwave and iron a lot. Get an extra key at check-in for electricity. The a/c works well but is seasonal, by law. We used travel towels to help dry laundry (we didn't go to the laundry a few blocks away). Bring: ZipLoks (all sizes), extension cord, smart phone with int'l service, Google Maps (offline maps loaded), QR Code and travel apps loaded before you arrive. Great rooftop view, no pool, thin walls. Great wi-fi but no biz center; the front desk prints forwarded docs. AC Hotel Firenze Does Not Have a Concierge Lounge or free breakfast for Elites, Ice Machines, or a Dresser (clothes go in closet cubes, Ikea style furniture). At Marriott.com the AC Hotel Firenze is often full but people cancel all the time. Way early, book any dates you can, recheck early and often, then call the Elite number to change/cancel/reinstate points. We used Rewards Points for every night of our trip!! BOTTOM LINE: We would definitely stay here again. It's Marriott in the ways that count: Comfort and Customer Service. Collapse

I would imagine if someone booked this hotel and knew NOTHING about Marriott's AC line, or thought they were going to be right in the heart of Firenze, they MIGHT be disappointed a bit ... But having stayed at an AC for the first time a few months prior and having been really pleased by the bang for the buck and knowing by looking at maps that we'd sort of be on the outskirts but still walking distance to things we wanted to go to (and going at a time of year where walking should be fine), we were happy to book this hotel and got a great price and knew what to expect. ACs are one of Marriott's lower-priced lines but they are all new and modern and clean and crisp. No frills. And, be forewarned, at least at the two at which I have stayed, VERY minimal drawer/storage space so be sure to have the things you want to access high up in your suitcase :) The bathrooms, again from my experience, are also ... unusual. Not very private (I mean, they're not in the hallway or anything, but within the hotel room they are sort of ... well, if you like to close and lock your bathroom door, this might not be for you). BUT we had a HUGE bathtub (I love baths!) ... so huge, in fact, that little 5'3" me kept sinking because my toes couldn't reach the end! The internet connection was good ... the walls are kind of thin (some jerk in the room next to us was BLASTING his TV at about 6 a.m., not the wakeup call we would have liked but I should have brought extra earplugs so my bad) ... actually lots of TV options because they get such an international crowd that channel surfing was a ton of fun (especially after a few glasses of wine) The beds are super comfortable ... And also, the lobby is spacious and comfortable and a wonderful place to grab an espresso and decompress while waiting for your traveling companions who may take a little longer to get ready than you do! Also, a very important tip: While the hotel does not really advertise this, calling it a solarium but not playing it up at all, you can walk up to the rooftop and get the most fantabulous view of the city from all sides ... they have a few benches ... nothing "played up," no rooftop bar or anything, but it's quiet and safe and just a great place to get some fantastic photos and enjoy some quiet time! Especially beautiful at dusk! Collapse

I have stayed here on 2 different occasions. The breakfast is good, and the hotel staff helpful with calling cabs and arranging early morning transport to the airport, which is close by. As one person said, the rooms are of minimalist style, super clean and modern. The hotel is a 20-minute walk or so from the main train station in Florence, and just about everything else. No reflection on the hotel, just be sure to plot it out on Google Maps so you see just where it is. Collapse
