Abba Sants was the "base station" of a recent shopping trip with my mom. Location is pretty good, a few meters from the metro - providing you take the green line (and not the blue as we found out on arrival). All in all the hotel was easy to reach from the airport by metro at €4,50. Arriving a bit worse for wear after getting lost in a very hot metro station, we stepped into the hotel and were greeted - well, we weren't greeted at all to be exact. The guy at reception was beyond indifferent and borderline rude, slamming our id cards so they skidded off the counter etc. Not even a smile to spare. Luckily he did check us in early at no extra cost, so we were able to get changed before heading out to the city. We were slightly nervous about the situation - being there during the referendum - but no information was given at all and we didn't dare ask after that welcome. (it was absolutely fine btw) The room & bathroom were spacious and clean, with two queen size beds. (faux) wood rather than carpet on the floor. Nice fluffy towels, good water pressure. Not much toiletries. There was also a minibar & flatscreen tv, free wifi. Even though we had requested a quiet room, we were facing the street. You'll have to take into account that during the Catalan conflict your neighbours will be clanging pots & pans on their balconies from 10 PM to 10:15 PM (check YouTube if you're unsure what this means). The windows do block out most other street noise, and the double door blocks hallway noise - but walls and ceiling did let through some noise from other guests. Still I slept pretty well, the mattress & pillow were great. Breakfast was included in the price, but a little disappointing. The warm dishes (eggs, sausages, bacon, beans,...) weren't really warm anymore, and the eggs the powdered kind. No real gluten free options except for the yoghurts, nuts & dried fruit. I did spot soy milk for lactose intolerant folks. Charcuterie, cheese, cereal and few cakes too. While we were having breakfast, oddly some random parts of the breakfast area got sealed off, and people wanting to sit there were shooed away. It was a bit awkward, and I'm not convinced whether the cause (presumably saving time cleaning up?) warrants the inhospitable atmosphere it created. There weren't a great deal of dinner options nearby, we did end up eating at the arena shopping mall one night but that was not very memorable tourist fare. Checkout was as cheerful as checking in, but it was a breeze getting to the airport (a good thing with the extra weight our luggage had put on during our stay!) Not a bad experience, but I was expecting more for the price payed. I would search for another hotel on returning to Barcelona. Collapse

We stayed there for 3 nights. A relatively smaller hotel. Location is not bad, very close to metro (subway) to go to city centre. A bit older facilities, but clean. Breakfast is okay. Staff is friendly and helpful (we asked directions a few times). The biggest pain is the wifi network signal just too weak and not stable enough to be operable. Our room was in a corner. There was only 1 spot in the room where we could manage to get some sort of signal strength. The other rooms (our friends' rooms) were not that great either. Hope the hotel management will fix this soon. Collapse

Stayed here for 3 nights...and nothing wrong with this hotel but nothing exiting either. Room was ok, beds are ok, wifi has good speed, bathroom is missing a real shower (but that is very frequent in Spain) Breakfast is also rather basic.

Don't get me wrong, this hotel was well located, right next to a metro and 6 minutes from the EuroRail so there is the good. Now for the bad, upon walking in my expectations were set high, the lobby is beautiful and the receptionist checked us in quickly. Getting on the elevator it was obvious it was an older hotel, but still we were ok at that point. Getting off on the 3rd floor it became apparent it was outdated. When we got in the room, there was a musty smell. I opened the windows to find one wouldn't open due to severe water damage (still evident). The room also was a smoking room when I asked for non smoking. The bed was comfortable and clean. The headboard was also water damaged on the bottom as was the corner of the room. The bathroom was very small (compared to others on our stay) and the hairdryer was from the 60s. They didn't provide conditioner or body wash nor did they have washcloths. The towels were scratchy and flat from years of usage. The breakfast was utter chaos. We arrived at 9, it looked like a bunch of school children had been let loose in the food as it was scattered EVERYWHERE and what little was left was cold or just inedible. The staff were trying their hardest so I don't blame them, but it was bad. The coffee machine was out of everything, cups, beans, milk, water, flavouring etc. I won't be visiting again. Collapse
