We stayed here for five days and we were truly amazed. Our room was great and we had such a beautiful view from the fifth floor. Spotlessly clean and tidy with fresh linen and towels. Such a unique combination of modern design in a picturesque old time building just 10 minutes away from the heart of Prague. Helpful and friendly staff at reception, very good breakfast. All in all we had a lovely time and we would love to come back. Collapse

We arrived by train and it was a 5 minute walk across the park to the hotel. It is right in the middle of the old part of Prague and the area is just beautiful. No issues checking in, and we were 2 couples and had 2 rooms on the 6th floor next to each other. We stayed from November 22-26 (4 nights). Two elevators to use, so there never was an issue waiting to go up or down. Not overly extravagant, but the bed was comfortable. Had a bit of an issue with the sink not draining well, and the shower head would slowly make its way down the pole while you were showering. Maintenance came in the next day and the drain was fixed but still the problem with the shower persisted, but really not that big a deal. Hair dryer and free safe in the room. DeLongi coffeemaker also in the room. Fridge too. Closet with about 6 hangers. Very quiet at night. Breakfast was included and was plentiful. Yogurt, bacon, eggs, toast, cereal, fruit, pastries, quiche. Certainly plenty to eat. Very central to everything as we walked everywhere. Would recommend this hotel, and we will probably stay here again if we come back to Prague. Collapse

Strange place. Not quite sure about it to be honest. It's rated as 4 star even though it's nowhere near that, however, it's not a bad place to stay. Staff are extremely helpful and will go out of their way to help. Rooms are larger than I expected and pretty comfortable. Food is very very good. Breakfast is extremely nice for a hotel and dinner (even though limited in choice) is very well prepared and tasty too. Getting cutlery to eat it with if you ordered room service becomes a bit of a hassle though. Twice I ordered room service and twice it was delivered without cutlery. By the time it's delivered the food is cold. That's a shame. The only issue I have and this is the reason I'll not return, is the cleaning. Cleaners pitch up at about 5 o'clock and don't actually clean anything. In the 4 days that I was there neither of the two rooms I paid for had any new towels or fresh bed linen provided. Neither of them were even dusted or vacuumed. They just put new toilet rolls in and examined the mini bar ( a few times, in case they missed something). It seems to be an obsession with them. It's almost like they will arrest you if they find you've had a drink out of it. When we arrived, my daughters room had an exploded can of coke in the fridge. The cleaners demanded to know why it was there. They then promptly put it on the bill. No chance mate! Right across the road is the metro station, so go can get to anywhere in the city really quickly. The area around this hotel is not very attractive and there is not a lot to do there. This hotel is fine if you want a reasonably cheap place to stay and can handle the little "oddities". If it wasn't for the cleaning, I'd go back. Collapse

This came as a surprise after reading many positive reviews of this hotel. My wife and I arrived back into Prague by train and researched a convenient hotel which was close to the train station as well as the metro and tram service for our final 3 night stay in Prague. I was left wondering whether the designer of this hotel had ever stayed in a hotel and even ironic that the word 'Design' featured in its name. The staff were excellent in welcoming us and explaining the process to get breakfast as well as showing us the 'free' welcome drinks and opportunity to sample a free cocktail voucher during our stay, at the bar. The elevator quickly transported us to the 5th floor and once in our room, we inspected the facilities and views. The initial impression was impressive. but the practicalities of having the bathroom partially occupying the corridor area to the entrance door was difficult to comprehend. Having to step up to access the toilet and shower room, was also puzzling (trip hazard in dark grey). The orange translucent doors to the toilet and shower were decorative but there was no catch to secure its closure. The wooden bed frame was too large for the mattress and the 'topper' mattress was again smaller than the main mattress. The frame was not central between the bedside tables, which on one side was about half a metre from the bed. The duvet was too large for the cover and was spilling out the end. It was no fun in the middle of the night trying to disentangle ourselves from the knotted cover. The selection of switches to operate the lights at the bedside became frustrating and the combination of switches each side of the bed meant that different lights were either on or switched off. However, once the lights were off, the darkened room enabled a good nights sleep with only a slight rumble noise from passing trams over night. The bedside light was at an inconvenient height when bending down to pick items from the bedside table. I hit my head twice and my wife also. There were numerous sharp edges in the room that were carefully avoided however the more noticeable issue was when descending the spiral staircase, when using the full depth of the step meant walking on the outside wall where the wall lights were conveniently positioned to crack your head into. Maybe the designer had children in mind with this as well as the breakfast/bar area was. The breakfast experience was a tricky one to navigate least alone an appropriate seat to find to sit on. The choices of seats varied from white plastic swivel seats, low cube stools, a long sofa and some metal seats for 4 people to sit around a table, however were so close together, it meant disturbing the person sitting next or behind you to move in and out of the seat. There were numerous blind corners where I witnessed people carrying hot drinks from the coffee making machine to their table nearly colliding and spilling their drinks against themselves as other people entering the breakfast area concentrating on finding a table or talking with friends. The toast making machine was virtually inaccessible whilst people served themselves cereals from the dispensers. I think a serious review of the layout of this would benefit the breakfast time. On a positive note, the staff were prompt at clearing the tables however I think this was only to encourage people to vacate their tables and enable more people to gt a seat. My wife and I witnessed the hot plates with eggs. bacon and sausages being replenished, however they were placed on top of the previous batches of food, which meant you had to time your approach for the cooked breakfast section in order to get the freshly cooked food. Our stay in Prague was enhanced by the positioning of the hotel as previously stated and were helped by the receptionist on our departure who explained a quick and simple way to get back to the airport via the Airport Express shuttle bus at the Railway station, that cost only 60Kc each for a 30 minute ride. I often travel to Prague and have stayed at numerous hotels over the years, however it is unlikely that this hotel will be high on the list for a return stay. Please invite the designer to stay at a few hotels before he's commissioned to design any more. Collapse

From Check in to Check out it was a pleasure. They organised a taxi from the airport and back again. The only problem was that the bar was closed when I arrived (23:00 Sunday night). Rooms very comfortable and quirky.
