This was a return visit and the welcome was just as fine as last time. This is an old converted spice warehouse, tastefully refocused into a fine hotel, right at the very heart of the tourist quarter of Copenhagen, with easy access to the first class underground system (use rather than a the taxis). The dining area is very cosy, as only the Danes know how, with a wide spread of breakfast food. The only miss was the Restaurant, now a franchise producing eastern foods, a miss as we were looking forward to some of the more Danish menu items such as Herrings Three Ways. The staff could not do enough for you. First Class. Collapse

We arrived a few hours before check-in, and they were able to get us in our room right away. The hotel is only a 10 minute walk from the metro and is right on the canal. Our room was beautiful and the beds were very comfortable. We visited the hotel bar on many occasions and enjoyed the variety of cocktails. The hotel staff was very friendly and able to answer any questions we had. We will definitely stay here again if ever in Copenhagen. Collapse
Would definitely stay here again

Just spent 4 nights at 71 Nyhavn, really enjoyed our stay. Very comfortable room (we paid extra for a harbour/canal view room), always warm despite the cold outside. Comfortable bed too. Impressive interior, modern yet with lots of large beams from the old warehouse giving it character. Staff very helpful and friendly. Breakfast had lots of choice, from continental to cereals to toast, and bacon and scrambled eggs, etc. Also great Danish pastries! Well positioned in popular Nyhavn, right at the end of the harbour, with plenty of eating places nearby. Reasonable walking distance of main shops, museums, etc. About 10 mins walk from the Metro (Kongens Nytorv), though we had a taxi back to the airport at a fixed price arranged by the hotel (good value). Would stay here again. Collapse

We chose the Nyhaven due to its location, as you step out right at the end of the Nyhaven canal and the cities attractions are all within easy reach. We got to the hotel from the airport using the metro it’s really easy – head to baggage claim in the airport, its down the escalator just as you reach the terminal shops (metro isn’t signposted until after baggage claim). Follow the blue line in the baggage claim through customs, and the DBB metro ticket machines are over on the right. A single journey ticket to the city costs 36 krona. Head up the escalator and the M2 line is just a minutes’ walk, the M2 terminates in ‘Vanlose’, and you need the ‘Kongens Nyorv’ stop which is the main square close to the end of the Nyhaven canal. The hotel is about a 5 or 10 minute walk from there. We arrived at the hotel around midday, the reception staff were very friendly and explained our room wasn’t ready though they had an upgrade for a larger room available, we declined the offer and returned at 3pm to check in and were given the upgrade anyway. The reception area is very cosy, and was quiet each day we were there; staff on reception are professional and very helpful too. The hotel has a good Wi-Fi service which doesn’t drop of constantly! Our room was 123, quite small though cosy, so I’m not sure how the original smaller room would have been! The room doesn’t have any view. Beware of the ceiling beams, they are quite low above the bed and I’m only 5’6”. The room has a single radiator which was hidden behind the minibar cabinet so we moved the cabinet to one side. After one day in the room we realised this wasn’t necessary as the room and the hotel in general is always very warm. There’s a kettle with tea & coffee, the minibar with some snacks in the room, there’s air-con, a small wardrobe with plenty of hangers, a small electronic safe (might fit an IPad), an iron and ironing board and a desk with an Ethernet port, plus a TV, a small settee and sufficient room for a couple of travel cases. The bathroom had a sink, toilet and large shower, the shower was ok, though not really very powerful and although the temperature was acceptable, I couldn’t get it hotter. The towels provided are clean and fluffy. There’s shampoo, conditioner, soap and body lotion, plus a fixed hairdryer which wasn’t powerful enough for my partners long hair. The room was generally quiet, though it did suffer from noise from the hard floored corridor. Overall the room was comfortable and clean with all that’s needed for a short break, though a view would have been nice. Breakfast is served in the Sea restaurant, and the room had a great relaxed atmosphere when not too busy. Service form the staff at breakfast was very good, friendly with a smile and the food being constantly refilled and the tables cleared. The tables are quite close together so get down early before it gets too busy. The breakfast selection is ok, not the best variety in my opinion, but good quality. There are smoothies, yoghurts, a fruit selection, a few cereals, a couple of meats and salmon, salad and cheese, a selection of breads and pancakes, pastries. There’s a single toaster and a coffee machine, though coffee is also served at the table. The hot selection consists of sausage, streaky bacon, scrambled eggs, cherry tomatoes and mushrooms. The hotel has bikes though we didn’t use them so I’m not sure if they are complimentary. We did use the bar when we came in one night and were shocked that we couldn’t charge our drinks to the room! It does however clearly state this in the hotel information, though it’s still strange for a 4 star hotel to have this policy! Overall the hotel is a great location, the rooms clean, very warm and comfortable and the public areas very nice, in particular the staff are very good. Collapse
