I really enjoyed my 3 night stay at the Iberostar on Park Avenue. The check-in staff were friendly and I received a room upgrade and complimentary bottle of wine which was a fantastic surprise. I had a parcel that had been delivered and they were quick to point that out and retrieve it. The room was spacious with a king bed and sitting area and windows that opened and overlooked Park Avenue. Whilst the bathroom was a little small it was clean and practical. The bed was comfortable and my room on the 14th floor was extremely quiet - I didn't hear a thing the entire stay. The hotel is located on Park Avenue which was a couple of blocks to Grand Central (Food options - Great Northern Food Hall, Magnolia Bakery, Shake Shack & the Food Markets), Bryant Park (Whole Foods, Soul Cycle, Blue Bottle Coffee) and close to everything you need. If you are coming from Laguardia it is also an easy drop-off and pick-up spot. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Thank you. Collapse

I simply do not consider that a 4 star hotel. The location is great and l guess you pay just for that. Upon arrival ( 130 am) after waiting at the airport 1h30 for a transfer organised by the hotel concierge, we got a room where the window would not close. We got offered to change room . In the other room we got the same problem so they called a technician to repair it. Once fixed we found out the hiting was not working amd we stayed all night with 15 degree in the room. Luckely it was fixed the day after. I think for a 4 star hotel those things should be checked before arrival. The bed was comfortable . Cleanness not excellent in the badroom + there were traces of moist im the walls wich shows that the ventilation is not great. Disappointing .especially for the price we payed Collapse
OK hotel but be wary of ordering a taxi via the concierge

Stayed here for 3 nights on our recent trip to the USA. Nice hotel, rooms clean and OK....nothing stunning. Staff on front desk were realy nice and helpful. Downside was.....we ased the concierge to book us a taxi one night to take us to a restaurant in Brookyn. When we came down stairs at the doorman said the concierge has asked him to get a car. He tried to get us to take a black car that was sat outside and was not a taxi. We asked if it was metered and he said no. When we asked how much it would be to Brooklyn he said $50 and when we said that was far too much he asked what we'd like to pay. DODGY DODGY DODGY. We hailed a yellow cab and it cost us $23.........so be warned. Collapse

The Good: The rooms look like the photos. The beds are comfortable. Not much traffic noise even on 3rd floor facing Park Ave. A couple of staff members, Chris and Alfredo, were very kind to us. Manager Sarah tried to resolve some issues and assured us that they will take action on the non-functional voicemail system as it can be crucial in an emergency situation. The Bad / Ugly: Weird charges on bill continued even after a lengthy discussion with the manager and my card company who monitored the charges. After being assured that everything was paid, we received yet another charge alert the day after checkout! After purchasing one soft drink for $7 from the mini-bar, we never touched it again. We made one call for $1.50. that's it. Multiple holds totaling over $1,500 were placed on my card for a one week stay and another charge after the visit. I also urgently needed to retrieve a voicemail message (it was regarding an emergency and that was the only way to reach me due to a European phone #). The message button on our phone only connected to the front desk. NO ONE knew how to access our messages, not even a manager. Only one woman knew and she was unfortunately not on duty. This caused us serious concern and a sleepless night since we could not call back or even know where our friend was. We were told by one person to file a missing persons report. My heart sank as i knew there was a problem for our friend but didn't know what it was. Turned out to be serious and I felt so terrible. :-( Our toilet also overflowed one night. We were moved next door, which was a nicer room. But still...it was 1am and the plumbing should function. Overall, well-meaning and kind staff, but a lack of training. They must fix this issue with the computer system that sends incorrect charges and lots of unnecessary holds. I believe they should remove the mini-bar entirely and install a vending machine and just leave an empty fridge in guestrooms to avoid strange and suspicious charges. Easier for staff + clients. Recommend other Grand Central hotels until these fairly serious flaws are resolved. Collapse

I was really worried about staying at this hotel because of the mixed reviews but we were only looking for lodging for one night and the price was right so I decided to take a chance. We really enjoyed our stay here. The front desk staff was courteous. Unlike the experience of others the bellman took our bags in for us. Check-in was quick and easy. Our room was not grand but it was adequately sized for 2. We had an expectation that the room would be small because, well, NYC. It was clean and seemed well kept. The bathroom was tiny. I mean really small but it served its purpose. I think I'd have found the size of the bathroom bothersome if I'd been there more than a couple nights - there just wasn't anyone elbow room but for our limited time in the room it was fine. All in all we had a great stay - friendly staff, a great location and affordable. Collapse
