Having read a few negative reviews of the hotel shortly before we went, I was a bit apprehensive about what we'd find, and was pleasantly surprised to find a clean, neat friendly hotel. Sure, the toilet made some scary noises and the shower door was a bit precarious but the facilities were basically good, the bed was very comfortable and the linen lovely and clean. Breakfast was a decently varied continental spread, certainly enough to keep you going if you didn't want to eat out in the lovely cafes of Amsterdam. My only serious gripe is that there are no basic refreshment facilities in the room, and no drinking water (I tend not to trust ensuite bathroom sinks as drinkable water). This cost us a fair bit in bottled water, so perhaps the hotel should look into providing a kettle, cups and beveragess and a mini water dispenser. All in all though, it was a nice place to stay, cheap and cheerful and not too far a walk from the station (nice chance to walk along the Oosterdok on the way there). Also comfortably near the flea market which is fab, some nice bohemian shopping streets and a supermarket for any forgotten essentials.
