out of 5The hotel was fine for our purposes although you need to check the facilities and position of your room - we switched with no problems. The food in the hotel restaurant was so good we didn't bother to eat elsewhere. The area around Grantown on Spey is glorious for walking and other outdoor pursuits and the hotel itself has an established birdwatching club which issues daily newsletters highlighting things of interest. The weather was fantastic for the week we were there but it could be a bit grim if you weren't so lucky ! Award-winning fish and chip meals in Ullapool ! Mouthwatering smoked haddock omlette at the Shieldaig Inn

out of 5you need to have a plan as places are quite a distance apart. Hotel has obviously recently had a refit, yet there was litle to actually keep customers there in the evening.Could be due to it being early in the season. Evening meals could have had more selection and bigger portions. A bus load of tourists arrived when we were there and they all just wandered around after their meal. Surrounding area pleasant to travel in, but beware of sudden changes in weather. Sorry but we won't be rushing back there
