Main reason for visiting Aviemore was to snowboard (obvious).Access to the slopes was easy as a local bus service takes you from the hotel door to the base camp of the mountain, taxis are reasonable as well and we found the local drivers were not prepared to rip you off if they knew bad weather would prevent any boarding by taking you to the slopes anyway. Hotel was very good, no complaints about the food or service and the restaurant and bar staff were 1st class.Unfortunately no-one can control the weather on the slopes and we had to be evacuated off the slopes when the worst conditions in 15 years hit, but it was still great fun!!

Used the McDonald Highlands Hotel as a base for a wonderful break in Aviemore. We drove to Cairngorm Mountain and went to the top on the funicular railway which is excellent and the views ..... Walked around Lock Morlick in beutiful clear weather & enjoyed the fresh air. Spent time on a quad bike trek through woods, moors and even a stream ~Great! Called into Pitlochry and to view the "Falkirk Wheel" on the way home, an excellent short break.
