A Very Pleasant Break

out of 5We had not been to Scotland before and noticed this very reasonably priced break. It was a very long way for us and we arrived quite late in the evening. The first thing we noticed was a very friendly welcome from the receptionist followed by a nice, comfy looking room. It contained all we needed for a short stay. Thurso is a very nice little place, not too much to do there and we found it rather expensive but it is understandable when everywhere is so spread apart. We would recommend this hotel and location to anyone who fancies a quiet time in a beautiful place. Just one fault, a rather creaky bed with hard pillows, maybe just pack your own pillows before you go.

out of 5On the first day we investigated the local shops then drove to john o groats and caught the wildlife cruise to duncansby head. On the second day we spent the morning reading then drove to wick and visited the old pultney distillery. On the third day we drove along to the castle of mey to visit the queen mothers holidy home.

out of 5We were looking for a few days away to enjoy walking and outdoor pursuits and caithness and north sutherland were ideal. Thurso is a friendly town and the hotel offered good value for money with the autumn break deal they offered.
