out of 5Enjoyed the visit to one of the most beautiful cities in europe. My partner loved the shopping outlets and the leisurely strolls through the well preserved historic streets of York. The hotel was only a few minutes walk from the city centre.

out of 5The elmbank hotel was conveniently positioned, just outside the city walls in a very attractive area. We did end up walking many miles, with a couple of trips into town each day. The interior decor of the hotel was spectacular, with wall murals in the art deco/arts and crafts style. However this was not reflected in the bedrooms which were sadly neglected with the cheapest quality fittings and a musty smell. The service was adequate, but never friendly, but the breakfast was fine. York itself was so wonderfully atmospheric,and the autumn colours made it look magical, we were just happy to be there and explore at leisure. This short break was very reasonably priced and great value, despite the drawbacks of the hotel.
