out of 5easy train to Cambridge, for a change - no delays! Easy walk to the hotel. sadly the frontage of the hotel is a hideous 60s addition but once inside, the public rooms were lovely. staff really helpful & nice. Room was spacious & with all facilities but decor very tired - needs redecorating. bed was enormous and really comfortable. lovely sheets! had asked for a quiet room and were certainly away from traffic. Shopped all day - nice to be near the shops. New John Lewis a let down - bland not grand! Had a meal in restaurant - not the fastest service but delicious & again, staff really nice. Wedding was on in hotel and party went on until midnight - so loud it might have been in our room but after that all quiet. my smoked salmon breakfast was excellent but my husband said his full English was not too warm - but the coffee was extra nice. Had lovely day out at Wimpole Hall while hotel looked after our luggage and went home feeling much better. would definitely come again.

out of 5The room at De Vere was pretty good - nice to have an old-fashioned, deep bath with plenty of fast-flowing hot water ... it took about 3 minutes to fill. However, the phone didn;t work in my room which meant I had to walk downstairs to order room service. I told them about aboot the phone problem and requested a 'room knock' to replace the alarm call requested when I checked in. That didn't happen, and the room service seemed to take for ever to arrive - it was only a burger and a pint!! Breakfast was OK, but all in all not a particularly satisfactory experience .. the wardrobe door was broken too.

out of 5The hotel rooms were small considering the room cost of £165 (we got this cheaper through superbreak), the beds were far too soft and therefore did not provide a good nights sleep at all. The location of the hotel was excellent and the staff all very friendly and helpful.
