Aida at the Royal Albert Hall- Stalls Tickets
Royal Albert Hall, London
Presented by Raymond Gubbay Aida will perform at the Royal Albert Hall in February and March 2012. Verdi’s acclaimed opera tells the heart wrenching story of tragic love, conflict and war. Egypt and Ethiopia are at war and Aida, daughter of the Ethiopian king Amonasro is captured and taken to Egypt as a slave for the Pharaohs daughter Amneris. Amneris is in love with the young Egyptian army captain Radamès, but he does not return her feelings as he has fallen for Aida. Aida is filled with some of Verdi’s most poignant arias and powerful music, culminating with the final entombment as the opera draws to its tragic close.
Since it was first performed in 1871 Aida has established itself as one of the most-performed operas worldwide. Aida at the Royal Albert Hall will be performed in the round and is directed by Stephen Medcalf, with set and costumes designed by the renowned Isabella Bywater. The production is accompanied by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Andrew Greenwood. Aida will be sung in Italian with English surtitles.
