About Chicago
Murder, corruption, greed, adultery and more than a few outstanding musical numbers, Chicago has it all! Based on the play by Maurine Dallas Watkins, a reporter who covered the 1924 murder trials of Beulah Annan and Belva Gaertner, Chicago the musical delves into the harsh realities and media frenzy that surrounds crime and all the glitz and glamour of the stage.
Set in 1920s America, Chicago the musical is the story of chorus girl Roxie who has killed her lover, Velma Kelly who has committed double murder and the slick, manipulative lawyer Billy Flynn. With both girls facing jail and a life of crime for the murders of their partners, Billy Flynn sees an opening. The charming lawyer brings the 2 girls together with the promise of keeping them off death row and making them stars! With style and flair they’re getting away with murder and getting to the top.
Now playing in the Garrick Theatre in London, Chicago the musical has found a home that lives up to the glamour and style of the show. With superb direction by Walter Bobbie and flawless choreography by Ann Reinking, Chicago is a must see for all fans of drama, dance and great West End musicals.
