Great Stay in London

out of 5Visited London with a friend to see Wicked at the Apollo Theatre in Victoria. The Central House Hotel was ideally located for our visit as it was just a ten minute walk from the theatre, a range of restaurants and local shops/markets. We had booked a twin room for one night, on arrival check in was quick and easy and the room was fine. It was a spacious room with one double and two single beds, an en-suite bathroom, television and tea/coffee facilities. Though the bathroom was small the shower was powerful. Having arrived at the hotel late afternoon we checked in then took a walk to find the theatre, with plenty of time before the show we had a walk to Buckingham Palace and then ate at Prezzo near the theatre. Prezzo was ok, nothing special and the staff rushed you a bit but the food was ok. Wicked was spectacular from the set to the monkeys, songs and storyline it was a great night out. Returning to the hotel we were disturbed a couple of times during the night by other guest returning but nothing too bad. The breakfast in the morning was continental which suited us fine, including yoghurts, cereal, croissants, toast, chesse and fruit salad. All in all we would stay at the hotel again as it was in a superb location and offered excellent value for money. On our way back to Kings Cross we stopped in at the British Museum - would need a whole day there to enjoy it properly there is so much to see!

out of 5Large room in the basement . Room had a fan (good) but would have been more of a problem in the summer as the window was next to but below street level.

out of 5There was entrance to the hotel from the mainline train station concourse but the main entrance is just outside the north side of the station anyway. Easy to find. Hotel exterior being maintained so not able to see the outside look of the hotel. Inside was bright and elegant. Foreign checkin staff whilst fluent were 'strongly' accented and so a little difficult to comprehend. Executive double not as spacious as expected but well furnished and clean. Popped into bar and very disappointed at slow service. Should've sat at south side of bar and avoided table service charge. No draught drinks only bottles and cocktails. Breakfast was coffee/tea/toast served to table and rest was self-service. Very good.
