out of 5We spent a Saturday night at this hotel. We took full advantage of the pool, steam room, sauna and jacuzzi all included in the price. The room was small but perfectly formed. There is a nightclub somewhere near the hotel and I was woken a couple of times during the night by shouting/horns blowing etc but not enough to keep me awake. We couldn't fault the buffet breakfast served in the restaurant either. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. I would happily return to this hotel and recommend it to others.

out of 5The room we had was adequate for our one night stay, but everything is in need of some tlc. We decided to dine in the hotel's restaurant (open from 6pm) we arrived at 7.10pm & were told they were still setting up following a function. The meal was ok & we were the only 2 in the restaurant. Obviously few people were expected as the receptionist also waits on the tables for dinner & breakfast. Overall nothing outstanding & certainly not fine dining!.

out of 5Staff were very obliging but hotel looks quite tired both inside and out. Cleanliness was good but beds especially childrens' beds were very poor. Bathroom was clean the pool and changing area didn't make the stay feel special and like a public swimming baths. The steam room was out of order. The most disappointing part for us was the breakfast which was a fry - up with very few other goodies which i would expect from 4 star.

Staff were great, room was quite large and clean and had everything you need for a couple of nights. Loved the fact it had a swimming pool and gym. Breakfasts were great - huge choice of both hot and cold foods. You could even order food to be delivered to the hotel in the evening. Would i go again....Deffinately.

out of 5This I can say with hand on heart was the best stay, compared to last year. I was misled by last years booking by the hotel group that owned the hotel I booked. The rating of that hotel should have been 1 star, or even 0 star, because the room were filthy, but their advert was of a cleaner, and comfortable looking room which wasn't the case at all, so did not stay there instead was offered a sister hotel which was also a 1 star rating, but a little better than that of the norbeck castle hotel, blackpool. At the best western stoke on trent moat house,(4 star) the service was excellent, the room was massive, and clean. Swimming pool jacuzzi, sauna, gym etc was well worth the stay. Staff very polite and helpful. Guests were polite people too. I just don't have any complaints, and will go back no doubt. Secure onsite car park with no charge for parking. The price was so unbeatable by any competitor. Oh just one thing comes to mind, on suite fridge would be really ideal, but the staff can store cold food/drink in their own fridge for you.

Take a chance and book the mystery option and save a packet, although you do have to travel to the other end of several corridors to get to your room! excellent breakfast, nice staff but restaurant a bit pricey for me. £13 for bangers & mash!!.

out of 5When we booked, we asked for a quiet room but we got a really noisy room and we could not sleep first night. We told the reception next day and they gave us a room where there were people in. We had to wait a couple of hours for another room. We got a little bit better room with no noise. We slept 2 nights properly. I would not go back to the same hotel again.

out of 5The hotel was fine, we were booked for 3 nights for 2 adults and 2 14 year olds. Our room had a large double and one put up bed. We asked reception and another put up bed was delivered. This made the room cramped. Asked reception if all family rooms were this size and was told that most families booked a double and a twin room. On the whole the hotel was adequate for our needs. Breakfast was lovely buffet style so you could eat as little or as much as you liked. The leisure facilites looked good but we didn't have the time to use them. Would stay there again but would emphasise that a larger room would be appreciated.

out of 5The staff at the hotel were friendly helpful and more than willing to oblige. The room if a little cramped was only being used as a base and was adequate for our needs. Unfortunately we never got to use the "leisure facilities" our fault not the hotels. One downside (minor inconvenience) shower had two settings hot and boiling! alton towers - sorry this is the best theme park in the country! yes i know we have chessington and thorpe park close by but the staff at alton towers and the whole layout is so much more ameniable. And what is it with the a50 there is never any traffic on it!!! Unfortunately merlin cards run out today so we are saving up for next year!! maybe we will do more than theme parks we are currently looking at cadbury's world trip

out of 5Hotel facilities were excellent value for price we paid with Superbreak. Family facilities are good. They cater well for children. Pool tables, board games and excellent childrens menu. Only negative was the service in the restaurant at dinner was very slow. Variety at breakfast was superb. We stayed 3 nights and were disappointed once at breakfast by the chef's attitude and staff when we asked for the food trays to be filled with food. Reception staff did act on my complaint and that of other guests. Would stay here again. Bar staff were excellent especially as they appeared to have loads of duties to do other than serve drinks.

out of 5We were delighted with the hotel and facilities, only one minor problem in that they hadn't read the booking properly and had only reserved 1 room instead of 2 which resulted in the two rooms booked being at opposite ends of the hotel, luckily our children are old enough that we coped with that. The meal in the restaurant was awful, we are not people who complain so i am finding this a bit difficult to write but suffice to say i couldn't eat my main course as the lamb steak was so tough and the rest of us were not very impressed with our meals, also maybe because we were a bit later eating than most of the other diners, the service towards the end was poor too.

out of 5We got a 3 night in the hotel for a family of 5 (2 adults 3 teenagers and a 6 year old ) for £260.00 for 2 rooms with b&b. We got what we paid for it was cheap and quite cheerful however a little noisy due to a "gentleman's club" across the road which was busy into the small hours. I don't think we'd use the hotel again we had 2 days in alton towers very good & well organised.

out of 5We stayed at this hotel because we visited alton towers and it was fairly close to the themepark. From there it was fairly easy to get to, about 30 mins drive. The hotel overall was good, the room was good even though we could only see the car park out the window! We had dinner in the restuarant which was nice and the bar area was nice as well. The breakfast was much like other breakfasts' in large chain hotels'; it tasted fine and there was good choices but the look of it let it down. All in all, not a bad hotel, i'd recommend it but for the price i expected slightly more.

Which were all good and very clean. Towels were provided to use at the pool. Parking was good at the hotel plenty of spaces. Breakfast was self serve and there was plenty of choices to eat. Only issue was that the bedrooms were a bit dated, but at such a bargain price it was great. Will definately book this again.

The room was nice, clean and everything was in good working order, although you could feel the springs through the mattress on the pullout sofa. There is a very good chinese takeaway with lovely staff about five minutes drive away. Overall a good hotel that we, a family with two teenagers, would use again.

Hotel was a little tired in some areas but clean and generally fine especially considering we only paid £90 for two nights. Receptionist who checked us in was totally unfriendly and unwelcoming but rest of staff we came across were ok (nothing more though). Hotel was located in what appeared to be a fairly bleak part of town but not a problem for us as sole purpose of trip was to spend a few days at Alton Towers which was about 40min drive away. Alton Towers itself is fantastic and a place we highly recommend for a visit.

The all you can eat breakfast went down well with a great choice of food. The room was nice and clean and hotel well maintained. The only downside to this hotel was the bar prices. At £3.80 for a pint we chose to drink in the room, something that we dont normally do. If the prices had been slightly cheaper we would have had a few drinks there. By how quiet the bar was I think most people had the same idea.

out of 5Great situation for visiting Alton Towers. Hotel is lovely and very easy to find just off M6 junction 16, which was needed after the long drive from Edinburgh. I didn't need sat nav to get to Alton Towers, all very well 'sign posted' and Debbie - our lovely and welcoming receptionist - made sure we knew how to get there. Also, her enthusiasm and knowledge of Alton Towers was a plus. She had fan in my 11 year old niece .... Chatting away and making sure she was in for a treat on her first visit. A very nice hotel to come home to. Room was perfect for our needs. Plenty of parking spaces amd enough amenities to ensure our 4 night stay was comfortable and accommodated for. The full english breakfast in the restaurant made sure we got up early and set us up for the day. Highly recommended and great value if you don't mind driving about 40 minutes to get to Alton Towers. Very happy with Superbreak too. First time user and delighted. Will use again.

The park should really consider opening earlier and finishing later so that you can get the value for the money you pay on the entrance fee. Overall a lovely weekend.

Didn't believe that Stoke fans were the noisiest till i was sat amongst them, they really are loud. Sat night out in Hanley, good again lots of life in town.

Our son was a little too small to get on some of the rides so we've promised to take him next year when he should be tall enough to get on everything. He especially wants to go on Oblivion.

Breakfast was fab! although we were further from Alton Towers than we thought, it was worth the travel. If you book your tickets on line you are allowed earlier entry than general public - well worth it. Then you can get on the big rides before the crowds. Excellent break.

out of 5We had booked 2 days and a night at Alton Towers. To ensure we got there early on our day of arrival we had one night at the Holiday Inn Stoke-on-Trent. This is ideally located just off the M6, and a 10-15min drive to Trentham gardens, which I couldn't recommend highly enough, £11.50 for the gardens and monkey forest, and worth every penny. We ate tea at Franky and Bennys at Trentham then drove to the hotel. We were late checking in (about 9pm) but the lady on the desk couldnt have been more helpful or polite. We retired to our room where we had a comfortable nights sleep, to awake to a gorgeous breakfast in the morning. We then drove to Alton Towers (very handy, less than half an hour away). Have stayed at this hotel before, and would definately stay again, well recommended!.

Overall Hotel Rating:
out of 5My friend and I booked this hotel to go to Alton Towers for a few days. The price was very reasonable as we had train travel included. As the hotel is straight across from the train station we had no hassle finding it, plus the bus stop just outside the station runs services to Alton Towers so we found the location to be ideal. The romm itself was ok, in need of decoration and new curtains, and the beds were squeaky as were the floorboards. On the second of our 3 nights however, the plug in the bathroom wouldnt come out, the manager tried to sort this but couldnt, so we were given a key to an empty room to use the shower in there. We assumed that while we were out during the following day, that the bath would be fixed, but we got back to the hotel to find the cold water still in the bath, we contacted reception, who didnt know there had been a problem, we were then issued another room key to use the batroom in there. i find this a little disapointing as it seemed the information had not been passed on to the other staff, and we had to go into another room to shower, then walk along the corridor in our towels, with the security cameras, and other guests looking on. The breakfast was good, not a huge variety to choose from but very filling all the same

We notified the staff, but they advised they had turned it off all together as they has customer complaints of it being too cold! I did not believe that because the was a temperature stat to adjust the room temputature. Apart from this it was good.

out of 5We booked our short 2 day break to Alton Towers through Superbreak for us and our two children as a last minute break. We loved the theme park and enjoyed every minute of it, although it was busy the queues were alright. I would not like to have been during summer though as I can imagine it to be horrifically busy. We stayed over night at the North Stafford Hotel which was disappointing. As one of the highest rated hotels in stoke on trent we thought it would be a safe booking. The evening meal was cheap (£9.50 for 3 courses) and was pretty awful. Only just edible really, we could only manage our dinner and decided it was safer to skip dessert!! The staff on reception were hapy enough although the waitressing staff in the restaurant were a little grumpy and appeared as if they could not really be bothered with the hassle of customers! The hotel was very dated, and had a sink inside the room not the bathroom. Although it was clean i can't say it was comfortable as the bed was two singles pushed together, the sheets didnt fit the bed properly and it was really really lumpy and uncomfortable. Also we noticed that our door didnt shut properly and had to be slammed shut.

The other room was like a sauna and when you tried to turn down the heating the control came off in my hand the television also went off at 10pm and would not come back on. All in all very dissapionting but on the positive side the receptionist was very polite and was trying to do her best in a very run down hotel. Apparently our rooms had been upgraded I would not like to have seen the other rooms. I had rung in advance to make sure everyhing was ok as the girls weere competing at the British Gymnastic Championships the following day and needed a good nights sleep so I feel very let down by this hotel.

This happened to more guests than us as we were all queueing at the barrier trying to get out but no-one had been told there was a key code. There was a fire alarm in the middle of the night, which thankfully was a false alarm, but no mention was made of it the following day, or any type of explanation given. Even though it is in the town centre finding somewhere to eat took ages, even the local Police couldn't really help. The hotel location was next to a number of late night pubs and clubs which were full of loud teenagers until the early hours. The rooms while OK but were very dated and could do with a good clean and decoration and fixing the floor boards is a must. The shower was a death trap and indeed our daughter had her foot badly damaged during her shower when it fell off the wall.

out of 5The hotel was very comfortable and the room we was allocated for a family of four was a good size. It had large clean large beds with still plenty of room to walk about. The breakfast was a full english buffet and is definately to be reccommended. We had 2 teenagers with us so after dropping them off at Alton Towers we explored the area visiting stafford, ashbourne and the not to be missed Buxton. The only negative to the short break was the hotel being in the centre of Stoke on Trent. As our idea had been to find a good restaurant for our evening meal we thought the centre would have been great. Unfortunatley it seemed to only cater for the older teen nightclubbers so we had to settle for taking a takeaway back to the hotel. Apart from this blip the short break was a pleasant change to an at home weekend.

Having said that the staff were friendly and I slept very well, so it did its job - and had a big free car park. The show was the highlight. It's fun from start to finish. Lots of laughs and a concert style ending that had the whole audience on its feet, dancing, clapping and singing.I am not sure I have ever seen so much energy in a theatre on a rainy Wednesday night.

The receptionist even sorted out take away for us as we had arrived late having travelled 3.5 hrs. We shall certainly use the same hotel again when there are dog shows in the area. Thanks to the staff and Holiday Inn in Stafford

out of 5After a late swim at the hotel our group (four adults and 7 children between 7 and 16) wandered into town to try and find something to eat. This was virtually impossible as everything was either closed (KFC closes at 8pm) or not child friendly. We were absolutely amazed and as the children got more and more fractious we ended up back opposite the hotel at Sizzlers. I know we could have eaten in the hotel but with 4 children we were looking for a cheap, quick and substantial meal.

out of 5Although specifying a quiet room, there was an air conditioning unit outside the bedroom window and there was a continual noise from inside. We did, after asking several times, eventually more rooms for the night, but it did spoil the stay. The room quality was not the best we had stayed in, very dark and small. The room we moved to for sleeping was much better. We would not stay at the hotel again unless we were guaranteed a decent quiet room. Other than that the hotel and facilities were good.

The hotel is clean, has decent sized rooms, excellent bathrooms with spa and a great full english breakfast. Please note that if you get a family room with kids, the kids breakfasts are not included and cost £4 each. I'd still recommend staying here. It's close to the main road that cuts across to Alton and also has a Tesco right behind it so you can stock up on butties and drink before you go to avoid paying the prices at Alton Towers

Trentham Gardens very interesting, with many small shops, and huge Garden Centre, being Easter week end it was crowded with visitors, but enjotable The visit to the National Tram Museum tied in with a special Easter 1940's theme week end which was unexpected, but extremely interesting. Lots of people entered into the spirit of this and were in period uniforms, re- enacting the roles of this decade, very entertaining and most enjoyable.

Chester zoo was brilliant. There was loads to see and do. They had good resturants for hot meals or snacks. You could hire a pram, which we did, for £15 deposit, £10 on return of the pram. As we didn't arrive at the hotel until 7pm we had to spend £25 taking the children to the nearby cinema to make up for their disappointment. This was the only reason we picked this hotel and this info wasn't on their website until we pointed it out to them.

They symbolise the level of service and range of facilities that you can expect at the property; ranging from 1 star - hotels with the simplest range of facilities, to five stars - luxury hotels with a wider range of facilities. Please note that different countries have different standards and star ratings may differ according to the country where the hotel is located.
