Surprising what there is to do in this area even when the weather is iffy. Everyone we met was very polite, particularly the hotel staff whom we were pleased to note were mainly english.

Very very poor television picture not anywhere near the hotel standard. Quite difficult to get action from the staff.

Kenwood hall was slightly out of town, about 20-30mins walk, it is a lovely hotel but needs a bit of an update, all cosmetic realy. All the staff were friendly and helpful. They were advertising weddings there, beautiful location but needs work. Rooms were spacious but chipped skirting boards, a walls in need of a lick of paint, bathrooms old, also a few thread bare carpets in the lounge and tv room. Close by is ecclesall road which has numerous amounts of restaurants and bars, ideal if you dont want to walk into town. All in all we had a good couple of days and the weather was great to. Worth the money.

The hotel was clean and comfortable, enjoyed the pool and spa bath, staff friendly, but evening meal wasn't very nice and bar too expensive.

Our second stay at this hotel. Can't recommend highly enough. Modern, clean, well-equipped rooms, friendly, helpful staff. Good choice at breakfast and light, airy, spacious dining room. Saw Strictly Come Danicng live - brilliant show, as usual. Lovely costumes, great dancing and lots of fun. The judges really relax and join in too. The arena is staffed with plenty of obliging people and it is well organised. Merchandise for the show is very poor and they need to re-think if they want to attract customers.

Tram system good went to Meadowhall. Also saw the live strictly show which was fantastic from beginning to end.

Excellent price which included well stocked buffett breakfast only draw back post code entered in sat nav took me to one way street behind hotel so got lost. More info on car park with subsidised parking would be helpful.

We treat ourselves to a new year break last minute & loved everything about it, will be booking again next year. Staff polite & attentive, food excellent. Superior rooms pleasant & clean & very comfy bed.

Stayed at the jury's inn for two nights whilst in Sheffield for my daughters university graduation. Easy walking distance to the county hall for the presentation also very close to parking and the city centre. Comfortable room with en-suite and plenty of hot water. Very helpful staff throughout the hotel the only disappointment was the evening dinner, very average. Overall for the price it was very good.

Trip with my mother for christmas shopping in meadowhall and to visit the christmas displays at chatsworth - both excellent. Hotel lovely and welcoming, staff great. We had a wonderful meal as part of our package with the hotel and I used the lovely pool and spa. All in all got christmas started with a bang! (we left on 5 nov!).

We stayed a while ago and the disabled lift was not working to the pool area then. We expected it to be fixed over the five weeks but same problem just an out of order sticker on it. It makes a big difference to disabled users as cannot access otherwise if in a wheelchair. Otherwise excellent.

The hotel as per previous reviews - a little worn at the edges - paintwork, bathrooms etc, but comfortable nevertheless. Staff are very helpful and pleasant and the hotel is located in a nice spot. We were visiting the city as our son is at university there. It's a nice city and the western, hilly parts have a good 'villagy' feel.

We were on the 7th floor with a view over the city. We walked into the city but make sure you go to hotel reception to arrange parking. The hotel car park is expensive but reception give you a voucher for nearby parking.

Location ideal for our needs. Hotel bedroom draughty and dining room cold and draughty. Breakfast and evening meal excellent both days.

Ok, not brilliant. Was cheap so couldn't expect more. No aircon, which wouldve helped. But clean and breakfast was ok. Booked as not much choice, would not have normally opted to stay there.

Staying in sheffield is the ideal place, near motorway within easy reach in less than 90 mins for most attractions, heritage fun parks country etc. Parking at hotel can be a problem particularly on saturday evening open for wedding reception. No priority for paying guest.

We stayed for one night as a stopover and everything about the hotel was excellent! couldn't fault a thing. The brilliant thing is the hotels location. We went out in sheffield and the city has everything you need no matter what you like to do, there is something for everyone.

The location wasn't great, on arrival we were a bit warey of what we had actually arrived at. However upon entering the hotel it was a different story. The hotel was decorated lovely, was clean and the staff were helpful and friendly. The food was pretty pricey but there was a little corner shop just over the road which was very handy. The meal on the first night at the hotel was fantastic, portions weren't huge but were very tasty. With the breakfast it was delicious, however if it hadn't had been included in the price of the room i wouldn't have eat there- £16.95 is far too expensive for a hot buffet. All in all i would most definitly stay again, but you most certainly need a car as it's in a horrible area.

The hotel is very impressive to look at on arrival. In it's own ground with a natural lake the home to ducks and coots walking around the well manicured lawns, being fed by children staying at the hotel. The restraunt is functional with a great relaxing view of the lake. Breakfast being a self service from the great array of hot food. The down side as always comes last, the room didn't have towels, we had to go out of our way to get a set. The following morning our room wasn't tidied rubbish bin not emptied and tea/coffeee etc not restocked. These small things spoilt what could have been an excellent weekend. Would I stop there again the answer would be yes.

A great weekend for all ages with great variety of music for all tastes, very well organised great atmosphere no trouble.

Lovely grounds the hotel is good but needs some decorating in places the spa was nice but a little tired. The evening restaurant staff where very helpful as where the reception staff. We where just having a few days break so nothing planned walked into the city centre which took about half an hour nice around the town hall beware if you go to browns pub restaurant £9.50 for 2 drinks a pint and a rum and coke!! There are cheaper places would recommend cubana mexican tapas restaurant great food great music try it.

The rooms were very warm no air con arrived early and because travelodge have a policy of not taking luggage we had to pay an extra £10 to check in early so that we could leave our bags!!!.

In general the stay was good and the hotel though very busy was enjoyable. We paid for an executive room which was a waste of money because the room was exactly as the normal room we stayed in on a previous visit. The one way system leaving the hotel was a bit of a nuisance but no real problem.

This is a beautiful hotel, set in a victorian suburb, the room was excellent, the breakfast was good, but by far the best atribute of the hotel were the staff, pleasent, efficient and attentive without being intrusive. The only niggle, was that the evening menu could have been more expansive.

Hotel fine. Checking in and out staff good. Huge cobwebs in room and door lock rattled in wind all night. Window could not be closed.

The hotel was well located to visit our family and a 20 min walk to the city centre, but in a quiet location. The room was spotless and very comfortable and the staff very friendly, which all leads to a very relaxing break.

Can't wait to go back, brilliant swimming pool, sauna and steamroom. Food in the restarant excellent it was in a deal, however the drinks are very expensive.

Went to Sheffield to see some shows. The crucible theatre was very intimate and as we had front row seats we were right in thick of it. Me & my girl is a great, fun show with lots of laughs. Miriam margolyes was outstanding but the 2 leads - daniel crossley and jemima rooper were very well cast and full of energy. A feel-good show i would recommend to anyone. Strictly at the arena was spectacular. The dancing was amazing, especially matt's tango. The costumes were fabulous, judges on good form, music and singers better than on tv and the venue was perfect size (although rather lacking in leg-room!). Thoroughly enjoyed both nights out, courtesy of my daughter who bought the tickets for my birthday and christmas pesents.

Fantastic value for money! New dinner menu-food was superb! Staff very friendly, would stay here again.

Excellent break. Kenwood Hall is on the edge of Sheffield but in a very peaceful location. Lovely grounds. Room very comfortable. Ambiance very relaxing.

First stay in a Copthorne and very impressed. Modern, clean and the decor was a bit different - very tasteful. Staff really friendly and helpful. Great hotel for going to Bramhall lane. Only a short walk into Sheffield centre. Indian restaurant - shapla - too busy but still took take-away orders. Waited 1 1/2 hours for food even though we had booked.

The hotel was beautifully clean. The staff were very friendly and attentive and made us feel really welcome. The facilities, especially the gym and pool, were excellent. The hotel is about 5 miles from Sheffield and is on a good bus route to the centre. You will need to travel by bus or car to go to places of interest. We ate at a local italian restaurant ( about 2 miles away) named kito's and the food was gorgeous and you could take your own wine.

Excellent hotel with attentive friendly staff. On site parking a great benefit. Good access to main roads and easy to find your way around the one way system! This was not a pleasure trip as we were visiting a family member in hospital. Would certainly recommend the Copthorne hotel and stay again in the future.

We booked this last minute as a short break. The staff were very helpful and the hotel very clean. We dined in the hotel restaurant and the food was excellent. Other than the jacuzzi water being cold the other facilities were great. It was an ideal location for our trip.

Needed to wind down before holiday flight to Spain, Holiday Inn Express proved a good choice, quiet location but close enough to town centre, etc.

Stayed on Superbreak deal, hotel lovely staff great, let down by the extra money we had to pay for our dinner that we thought was included with the break especially as we had three courses and coffee no extras, at no point did anyone advise us that there might be extra charges, that didn't include the wine which we expected to pay for anyway.

Me and 5 friends travelled to Sheffield to watch Michael Mcintyre live and then to have a night out after the show. The hotel was fabulous, great rooms (if a little on the small side) good location (we walked & got the tram everywhere) and the most amazing breakfast! we were all very impressed with the hotel and would go back again.

Was very pleased with hotel, near to motorway but far enough away to be quiet. Rooms good, lovely place. Easy to get to lots of venues due to location of motorway. Well looked after by staff. Leisure pool was very good as well.

I took my son on a short break weekend to Sheffield and visited a Sheffield Wednesday football match on the Saturday during the day and visited the greyhound stadium in the evening. The next day we visited family living in the area. During the break we took time to use the facilities of the hotel we were staying in which were first class.

The Hotel Bar/Restaurant was very very crowded and noisy so much so we could not get in let alone get a seat. Fortunately our 1st night dinner was quiet and excellent. We requested a quiet room but throughout the night the was very loud shouting in the corridors plus doors banging constantly. We had very little sleep during this break.

Good hotel but missed small extras, like a biscuit on the welcome tray! Saturday night meal was very late and we had 4 children! Food good but delayed too long, poss cos of a wedding.Sheffield was a good location for a variety of ages - 10-76!

Hotel easy to get to from the M1.The Arena was only 10 mins. away by Super tram from Castle Square (yellow line). Close to shops/bars & the lovely St. Paul's Square. Easy access also from nearby Rail station. Hotel staff very helpful & the room was lovely. Good facilities in the restaurant for people on their own(booths with access to an individual TV screen and headphones.)

Just one night away did the trick! Nice hotel, lovely peaceful surroundings, room change request very worthwhile. Short drive away from Peak District National Park, easy to access city centre also.

Torvill and Dean at Sheffield Arena - excellent.

My partner and myself took my son and his girlfriend away to celebrate his 22nd birthday. We went walking in hills something a had never thought i would enjoy and i am now hooked. We shopped in the trafford centre, had afternoon tea in Bakewell, and wonderful fish and chips. Matlock bath and the cable cars were great. My only dissapointment was when we got to hotel we were not booked in. The gentleman didnt apologise just tutted and spent ages looking for available rooms. I felt it was our fault. In general the man concerned and staff on reception were not very friendly and didnt say good morning or hello when we walked by reception. However staff in other parts were good. Hotel was lovely and beautiful grounds

had very little sleep due to some noisy guests. Some of who were evicted from the hotel. Hotel manager rang me yesterday. he was very appologetic and has kindly offered to refund half of my costs.

The hotel was wonderful. We really enjoyed the facilities and the staff were very friendly and helpful.Breakfast was excellent. We went to see AL Murray at the City Hall which was a brilliant show and venue. Would definitely stay at the hotel again. A brilliant time!

We were students in Sheffield in the late 60s/early 70s and had arranged our 2nd reunion since graduating. The Kenwood was the ideal place to stay because of its location - near to friends and old stomping grounds. The hotel was also a great choice as the staff,rooms and food were all high quality at a reasonable price. The 4 couples who stayed here(all now approaching their 60s) all agreed it was the perfect choice. Would definitely reccommend it to anyone wanting an attractive, well run hotel in quiet surroundings yet only a mile or so to Sheffields attractions.

Kenwood Hall was a very nice hotel with very nice staff. The problem was that it was half closed! There was no restaurant open in the evening and no buffet breakfast the following morning. We did have meals but couldn't really choose what we wanted for breakfast. Dinner was lovely but served in the lounge area. If we'd known of these issues we would have chosen another hotel with yourselves.

Walked from the hotel onto Ecassall Road which is now very cosmopolitan. Enjoyed a few drinks and two very good meals particular the meal at Nonna's Italian Reastaurant.

I needed to go to Sheffield for the weekend as my son had a karate tournament on sunday morning, so when we got to the hotel at about 2.30 we used the hotels gym facilities, then had a swim & enjoyed the steam rooms & jacuzzi. We then had a absoultley lovely meal in the hotels restaurant. When we had finished we could bearly move so we watched sky films in our room till we went to bed, throughout our stay the staff were lovely. On check out calling a taxi was so simple only had to press 1 button & 30 seconds later they were there. The Sheffield pond swimming centre is a really nice place with lots of different facilities there. I will be going back to explore Sheffield some more.

Went to Sheffield for a swimming weekend and wanted somewhere different away from the City Centre. What a find! Quiet relaxing atmosphere, good sized room.What a superb breakfast! Well equipped and spotless Gym, Pool, Sauna, Steam Room. Going to go back again. The City Centre Hotels of Sheffield have a lot to live up to.

Hotel room was very comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful.Short easy traffic free access to city centre and near to buses, trains and supertram.

We found this hotel very convenient to the tennis centre we could walk there.

We enjoyed our visit remembering time spent attending the university many years ago! The hotel was perfectly placed for sightseeing in and around the city.

My niece's wedding and reception was held in this hotel in August 2008. Excellent room, service and food. The scrambled egg at breakfast was the best I have ever tasted. I would recommend this hotel.

Meadow Hall was wonderful. Plenty of places to dine or snack. Wonderful little shops.The peak district was a revisit. Beautiful, nostalgic. Last time we cycled, this time we were on foot so were able to visit the museum.

The parkland grounds and lake made the hotel perfect for just sitting and relaxing. The friendly ducks that waddled up were entertaining.We happily spent part of each day sitting in the hotel grounds.We explored some of Sheffield's parks, the Peak District (walking from the hotel!),the Botanical Gardens and city (also walking distance).We felt we were in an ideal spot.

We stayed for 3 nights at Kenwood Hall hotel in Sheffield. It is set in beautiful grounds, so feels tranquil, yet is close to the city, with lots of good restaurants within walking distance. Highly recommended!

My reason for coming to Sheffield was to see an Osmond concert. The receptionist got me a taxi to take us to Frankie and Benny's which was fine. The arena and concert were fabulous, but getting back to the hotel was a nightmare. A local couple phoned us a taxi, as there were none available outside the arena.

We Went to The Osmonds 50th Concert in Sheffield. We at at a buffet chinees just down the road from the hotel. Hotel most excellent.

The Novotel is conveniately located in the centre of the City Centre, within easy access fo public transport. Rooms are comfomfortable, some in need of an upgrade but were clean. Check-in was later than stated but staff offered apologies. All staff were friendly and helpful. Good choice at breakfast but not good value for money at 12.50GBP. It was a good base to visit The Crucible Theatre to watch World Championship snooker.

My first visit back to S Yorkshire since moving to the south coast in August 2007, becoming seriously ill and needing major surgery, from which I am steadily recovering.My partner and I had a lovely few days visiting old friends, golf club, and shops.

We spent a wonderful weekend at the Mercure St Pauls hotel in Sheffield. We were there to see Strictly Come Dancing and purely by chance happened to stay in the same hotel as the stars. We met Zoe Ball at the shop opposite and went in the lift with some of the dancers. We used the health club and loved the aromatherapy sauna. My wife bumped into Len Goodman there. The hotel staff were super friendly. The hotel and rooms were so spacious and the hotel restaurant was right by the Winter Gardens. A most beautiful hotel, one of the best we've ever stayed at. In the evening we saw Strictly Come Dancing at the Sheffield Arena and travelled back into town on the tram. A great atmosphere as the tram was full of enthusiastic audience members. It was a most wonderful weekend to celebrate my wife's 50th birthday

Overall was an outstandiing hotel, me and my partner really enjoyed everything it had to offer and we will certainly be returning again. 5 star

Went to Sheffield for a friend's 40th. Arriving at the station, i could see the hotel and the partyu venue so I couldn't get lost!

The hotel was ok needs a little updating carpets in dinning room were not very good and room at the front was very noisey all night xmas lihgts and markets were very good

Hotel very comfortable and if you dont mind a 25 minute walk you are in the city centre leaving the car at the hotel.

The Hotel initially would not give us our booked room as we did not have a voucher. This was eventually sorted when referred to the Manager.Disturbed on first floor at 3 am by noise from ground floor riotous party in bar area of some 20 wrestlers that Management did not have the resources to control. Also had corridor fire door outside our room which always slammed shut whenever used. Both points mentioned to duty Manager in the morning.

It was my first trip to Sheffield and it wasn't to explore the city, but to see Cirque Du Soleil at the Hallam Centre. The hotel was in walking distance from the train station and reception staff were friendly. Our non-smoking room had obviously had some previous smoking inhabitants, so the room could have done with more airing. Otherwise the room was exceptionally clean.When visiting Sheffield use the Super tram which cost just over a fiver for a day's travel on this wonderful transport system. There aren't too many good restaurants in the city centre, but we enjoyed All bar One and we noticed that there were other well known names such as ASK.

Went into Sheffield City Centre on Sunday a.m. and sat in the fountain gardens on a lovely warm sunny day. Lovely break.

The hotel was clean, quiet and the staff were extremely helpful. Visit was just one night as we were going on to visit family - so we are unable to comment on other facilities.

I was in Sheffield on business and didn't have the opportunity to see anything else.
