Great Location But Very Expensive

Mercure paddington ideally located to get off the train, drop off luggage & start your day in London. Staff very friendly & helpful, even going out to buy fresh milk for our room. Everything very clean & tidy in the room. Breakfast in garfunkels was a treat, pancakes for breakfast, friendly & helpful team & a nice selection of cereals & fruit. Unfortunately, the night was £189 for a very small room where you could barely open the bathroom door, and the bathroom turned out to be a shower room. Reception were unable to offer a room with a bath as the executive rooms were fully booked. Probably a good hotel for business bookings, but a whole lot of money for not a lot of room.

Hard Rock Calling The Police

after speedy trip via virgin train we arrive in london in good time to check in and find a late pub lunch. the hotel, quality crown Paddington was a good choice. the pictures on the site show exactly what you get but little else! especially the room which had just enough room to fit everthing you see in. our room overlooked the busy main street but thankfully had effective double glasing! overall impression was clean tidy an in good order and made for a comfortable stay. the pupose of our trip was to see the police play live in hyde park.a well organised and memorable event. the breakfast the next morning was served at the adjoining garfunkles restaurant which again was clean and neatly laid out.we had the full english which was served quickly by friendly staff, the portions small but well cooked. after checking out we made for the nearby paddington station to begin a spot of site seeing before home. overall we had a most enjoyable stay and would certainly use the hotel again as a base for a overnight or weekend break.

A Busy But Great Time in London!

The location of the hotel was very convenient for arrival and departure, being only minutes from Paddington Station and tube. However its obviously an old hotel that has been modernised and though the rooms were nicely renovated, they are small. Our first room had a small double bed against the wall and the wardrobe 2ft away on the other side - with the result that I fell out of bed on the first night! However our room was changed with little bother. The breakfast in Garfunkels is poor, the staff try their best, but its certainly not four star quality, and neither is the hotel. We thought it was expensive and not worth the money.Dont go to Angus Steakhouse opposite, its expensive and poor, and the staff are not well trained. Go down the side streets, you'll get much better service. We took out daily passes for the underground and this worked well. Suggest you go to the O2 exhibition by tube, its fast and efficient and though the boat ride sounds nice, perhaps in Spring it would be better. We got our theatre tickets from the Leicester Square booth, which even had something to offer late afternoon, which is helpful.Great time at Buddy! - Foot tapping show that will make you feel better! Everyone was joining in. A great party atmosphere.
