out of 5Climbed helvellyn and blencathra whilst staying at the red lion hotel in grasmere. Great location for the hotel, right in the centre of town. The staff were very friendly and helpful - full of smiles. Only bad word to say was about the size of the bathroom which was quite small - but overall the hotel was great and we had a lovely stay.

out of 5Our basic aim in this visit was to recce a walk for one of the rambling clubs we belong to. We did this and enjoyed coming back to the red lion. It has a very enjoyable atmosphere and the staff were all fiendly and helpful. The bedroom accommodation was good and the bed very comfortable. We had good views out of our bedroom windows.
