out of 5The Buckerell Lodge Hotel is what you would expect for a four star hotel, the room was spacious enough and the hotel is handily located for buses or walking into Exeter. Exeter has a very good tourist office and was very clean & tidy but car parking is expensive and the traffic was heavy, in the city itself there are all the shops and eating places you could wish for as well as culture stretching back into pre-history.

out of 5Our second night's sleep was disturbed by the noise of the fire alarms going off. Fortunately it was a warm dry balmy night, if 3:30 is still night in midsummer. After sitting around in the garden chairs for about 20 minutes, wondering what was happening inside the building, the fire & rescue service arrived. After a brief check the firemen said we could go back inside. I think the staff may have been still asleep, as we saw little of them.Surprisingly, no discount offered for the broken night, but at least the Alarms worked and we all got out quickly. No feedback on the problem causing them to go off.

out of 5Hotel was generally good but our room could be described as tired. carpets were worn and there were wires (new) hanging from the ceiling.Food was good and the staff were efficient. Enjoyable visit to Powderham Castle
