About Julius Caesar
Shakespeare’s famed tragedy Julius Caesar receives a modern interpretation as part of the World Shakespeare Festival. Based on the history of the Roman dictator Julius Caesar and the conspiracy to assassinate him, Julius Caesar is a powerful play about loyalties, greed and betrayal. First performed in 1599 Julius Caesar is one of Shakespeare’s most quoted plays and has been adapted for film and television on numerous occasions.
This new adaptation of Julius Caesar is directed by the Royal Shakespeare Company Chief Associate Director Gregory Doran. The production takes Julius Caesar, Mark Anthony and Marcus Brutus out of the traditional setting of Italy and places them in the heart of modern Africa.
The World Shakespeare Festival runs from the 23rd April through until September 2012. Julius Caesar will play at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford from the 28th May to the 7th July 2012.
Performance times for Julius Caesar are as follows: Evenings: Mon- Sat 19.15, Wed 6th June 19.00 Matinees: Sat & Wed 13.00
