out of 5We stayed at the hotel as a treat for our first wedding anniversary as it was near Oulton Park Race Circuit. We arrived on the Sunday evening, where the staff were very pleasant. We used the pool, sauna, steam room but not the jacuzzi as it was out of use. The changing rooms for these were lovely, had all facilities (hairdryers, costume press, free towels, shower wash). The room was very clean but nothing special, suppose just up to the standard of a 4* hotel. The bar food was overpriced (expect to pay around £5-8 for a sandwich)so we didn't entertain the thought of going to the restaurant. Instead we drove into Stockton Heath, were we had a meal at Tom @ 101. Here I also found it to be overpriced, the portions were small and whilst we were there, the table next to us complained several times about the quality of their food. In the morning, the breakfast wasn't great, definitely not to 4* standard. The restaurant was beautifully set out and the staff very helpful but the cooked food wasnt up to the same standard. All in all, a pleasant trip and as we didnt pay too much, was happy with the stay. I was highly recommend Oulton Park, this was the first time I had gone anywhere like this and it definitely made our weekend!

out of 5The worst part of our break was that the heating boiler had broken done and we only had minimal heating on a winter weekend. I would assume that the cold water in the swimming pool was also a result of this.Where the hotel can be improved is in the training of there junior staff where customer service is concerned. Our problem was with a member of the bar staff. We wished to have an evening drink. We were the only people in the bar area. It took some time for the bar staff to acknowledge our presence and they were busy and were asked to sit down and our order would then be taken. After 10 mins waiting we then decided that our order was obviously not worth getting and left the room.
