out of 5The Uplands hotel was comfortable and great value. The room looked a little dated and tired, but was large and had all the facilities we would have liked. Beautiful surroundings, 10mins drive from High Wycombe, 40mins train journey to London.

out of 5My first thought when we found the hotel was that we must have got lost and this couldn't possibly be it as we'd only paid £25 for the room through Superbreak! Our room was fab! It looked over the extensive lawns sweeping driveway at the front of the hotel, had everything you could want, and a lovely big bathroom. But the shape of the bedroom - almost like a ski chalet - and the fact that one whole bathroom and bedroom wall were in fact windows with wooden blinds just gave the room a really different feel! Absolutely loved it!! We ate in the bar in the evening and had a lovely pizza, not the cheapest, but couldn't complain at all about the quality! We throroughly explored the very well maintained grounds - saw the pitch and putt, the tennis courts and the gym. There were marquees set up for a function, all of which looked really good and there was a clear notice in reception to warn of possible late night noise. That function turned out to be our evening entertainment as it had been hired by a local school for their end of year prom. We were able to watch hoards of over-excited 16 year olds arriving in stretch limos wearing posh frocks while we relaxed with a drink on the lawn! The bed was very comfortable and breakfast was very nice. All in all, we were both very surprised with the Uplands. I had read some wildly differing reviews but really can't find anything that wasn't either funny, fantastic or just charming! A great hotel!Following a great sleep and enormous breakfast, we continued the journey to Marlborough and Avebury where we raided the gift shop for joss sticks and Kendal Mint Cake, waved at the sheep, cooed at the amazing standing stones and dribbled over our cream tea before heading back to Northamptonshire through the back roads. We had a GREAT time adventure!
