out of 5The Cornwallis is a lovely historic country hotel. It has a lot of character and the staff are very friendly. The grounds are very attractive. On arrival there was an electrical fault in our en suite, but we were immediately allocated an alternative room, without any fuss. Our only 'gripe' was the 40 minute wait for our food in the restaurant on our first night! this is a great part of the country to visit if you want to get away from the stresses of a busy life. There is a great deal of historic interest, but it's a shame that the 'planners' in some of the lcoal towns (Stowmarket in particular) didn't appreciate that! Southwold is a lovely seaside resort. Being there was like stepping back in time - no apparent vandalism (the beach huts have glass in them!) and very clean (including the public toilet next to the adnams brewery!) the sun was shining too - England at its best!.

out of 5We had a lovely night at the Cornwallis in Brome, Suffolk. Will visit again sometime. The surroundings are fantastic and the staff were very helpful. The atmosphere was relaxed and homely.
