Short Break In Newcastle

Stay Date: 28/03/11

Overall Hotel Rating:

4 out of 5

We stayed for two nights, it was very nearly only one, as we felt on the first night that we were in the middle of a youth hostel, our room was placed in the middle a school party. Who insisted in running up and down the corridors, and letting the room doors slam shut, this went on until around 1am. The following night was a lot quiter, as the kids were only staying the one night, so we managed to catch up on our lost sleep. Apart for the noise from the kids which did spoil our week-end away, the hotel was excellent, nice buffet breakfast, a clean room and excellent facilities including a gym and swimming pool, although we did not use these.

Super Mystery Hotel

Stay Date: 29/10/10

Overall Hotel Rating:

5 out of 5

We booked a mystery hotel at a really low price and so had no expectations of what to expect. On arrival we were really impressed, the room had all the neccessary facilities including two double beds, everything was clean and well organised. We had a great nights sleep and in the morning made our way to the hot buffet style breakfast, lots of choice with well cooked food. Checkout was 12-00 noon so we spent an hour in the hotel swimming pool which was quite small but adequate and then finished off in the steam room and sauna. Checkout was easy and we left happy and content.

Short Break In Newcastle

Overall Hotel Rating:

5 out of 5

We went to a small family wedding in Newcastle so spent a lot of the time with the family. We stayed in a mystery hotel which was a little far out of the town to make it easy to pop in and out but it was perfect in most other ways. Swimming pool, and a gym which my husband did not try, lots of seating in the foyer with tv for football addicts and the room was quiet and very comfortable, though a little too warm. It was a lovely warm weekend and it would have been good to open the window a little wider to get a draught. The evening buffet looked like it had been there for hours so we opted for the a la carte menu which was fresh, varied and delicious. The breakfast was magnificient buffet too, fairly good coffee and loads of everything to eat. The only outing we went on was the boat ride on the tyne. We chose the one hour ride as we were not dressed to venture out in the estuary for 3 hours. The commentary was interesting and did not go on too long. Well worth it. I would have liked to go to a concert in 'the sage' as everyone who had been there said the accoustics were great. For my first ever visit to Newcastle I was impressed, loved the architecture, friendly people and taxi drivers and the cleanliness. Wold love to have had another day to go to the shops!.
