Florence (Firenze) the epicentre of the Italian Renaissance is the art-lovers favourite destination. Influenced by Leonardo, Dante, Machiavelli and Michelangelo, Florence is filled with fabulous architecture, museums and galleries. A Dream Fulfilled.

Florence is a truly beautiful city. It is steeped in history and a delight to the eye. The hotel was in a brilliant location....Just minutes from all the main sights and attractions. Don't miss the amazing views of the city from the hotel rooftop terrace. My lasting momory will be that incredible picture of the Duomo, sipping amaretto as the sun set! Only complaint is the fact that our twin room costing £150 per night was small dark and shabby. The photos on your website led me to believe I was going to get quite a luxurious room. The rooms are described using language that suggested opulence and superior standards. This was not the case. To conclude.....Room extremely disappointing, but holiday overall, fantastic.

The Hotel was near to the train station and it was good. The weather was wet and mixed but we were inside 'attractions' a great deal. The art is spectacular but can prove expensive with all the entrance fees. But the atmosphere is wonderful.

2 Nights in Florence

We planned our trip in advance and flew from Birmingham to Pisa with Ryanair and with hand baggage only it was £145. On arrival in Pisa we got a return coach journey for 16 euros each direct (Payable at the airport) to Florence Train Staion which is 100 yards from the Hotel we stayed at. The Hotel is on the second floor above a row of businesses and there is a lift. The staff were friendly and efficient, the room was very clean and comfortable, there was a reasonably priced mini-bar however, no kettle. The reception is manned all night and the continental breakfast was more than sufficient. Florence itself is very pretty, has a good market (haggle as best you can) but be prepared for pricey eating and drinking. Buy soft drinks from the small supermarkets rather than the cafes and take care to study the menus and compare prices for food. On the plus side, every menu we viewed was in Italian and English, and most of the locals speak very useful Ensglish too. All in all a great couple of days albeit a bit hard n the feet due to uneven pavements and cobbled stones. Enjoy!

A Great Break in Florence & Pisa

A customerfrom SOLIHULLwho stayed at 4* Boscolo Astoria in Florence wrote this review.

Stay Date: 12/11/08

Overall Hotel Rating:

4 out of 5

We spent 3 nights in a quality central hotel which enabled us to come back & relax after a long day sightseeing. Florence is a fabulous city especially if you love art but even the scenery & Buildings are so worth going for. We moved on to Pisa for 1 night. There is not so much to see there apart from the tower & cathedral and it is run down compared with elegant Florence. Cheap flights enabled us to spend more once we got there as it is expensive.
