About Betty Blue Eyes
Betty Blue Eyes the Musical is the first original musical that the renowned Cameron Mackintosh has produced in ten years.
Adapted from Alan Bennett’s award winning film ‘A Private Function’ Betty Blue Eyes the Musical is a quintessentially British comedy. Set in 1947 Yorkshire amidst the struggles of rationing and unemployment in Post-war Britain the story follows a small community as they prepare for the upcoming Royal Wedding. When local dignitaries smuggle in an illegal pig ‘Betty’ to enjoy at a royal feast, thoughts of rations are thrown out of the window. With the pig stolen and a food inspector on the lookout Betty Blue Eyes the Musical is full of comedic twists and turns.
With Sarah Lancashire and Reece Shearsmith in the lead roles of Gilbert and Joyce Chilvers Betty Blue Eyes the Musical features a wealth of British talent. The music for Betty Blue Eyes is by the renowned team of George Stiles and Anthony Drewem who worked together on a number of successful shows. Betty Blue Eyes the Musical is directed by Laurence Olivier Award-winner Richard Eyre at London’s Novello Theatre.
