Stirling is the heritage capital and Scotland’s youngest city. Wander through the streets of the Old Town winding upwards to the castle or visit the Jail and striking 19th Century prison. Falkirk, with its 15th Century atmospheric Blackness Castle, is rich in commercial heritage and roman remains of Antonine’s Walls.

out of 5Barcelo hotel, now puma highland hotel, is a great location with bigger than usual rooms and a wonderful location including car parking. Stirling pedestrian precincts are an easy walk away with many places to eat and drink.

out of 5Hotel in centre of stirling, 10mins from station, secure parking. Hired a car from enterprise again no problems. Used trains as well, good service to edinburgh/glasgow. If you like shopping stirling has a large undercover centre. Edinburgh zoo a must, also museums. If you like driving good base for driving to the highlands.

out of 5My husbnd and i treated ourselves to a break in the barcelo highland hotel. Excellently placed t visit the historic sites in stirling and in a building befitting the location. We had a lovely meal in the hotel and the manager gave us a glass of champagne to celebrate our anniversary and when we got back to our room there was a congratulations card. Nie touch.

out of 5Spent the afternoon in the pool/sauna etc, had an afternoon nap, had an oustanding meal in the restaurant then chilled in the room. Location ideal for shops/restuarants. Purpose was to get away from it all for a day/night and although we were only 30 minutes away from home it felt like hundreds of miles away. Staff were friendly, would go back.
