Trip To Edinburgh

Another good short break to a wonderful city. The attractions were very good the ongoing tramworks just seem to be going on an on - what three years now! The sheraton grand was very poor - in the middle of modernisation. We have stayed there before and it was great. The hotel was partly closed off and breafast very poor and very crowded. Standing to be placed at a table. The staff are very good but the state of the hotel for the price is not really acceptable. Think we not return.

Had another excellent stay in Edinburgh with tickets to the 6 nations rugby, england vs scotland, as always a fantastic occasion. The sheraton grand hotel & spa was excellent in every aspect and i would highly recommend a stay here. Enjoyed drinks in the bars on george street, most notably the dome and le monde, and had a nice meal in the living room on the night.

Short Break In Edinburgh

A customerwho stayed at this hotel wrote this review.

Stay Date: 25/02/11

Overall Hotel Rating:

5 out of 5

I have stayed at this hotel before and have always liked its location and love the spa. However this visit was made even more special as we stayed in brand new rooms with Castle Views. I simply love the new decor. Great use of mirrors to give the impression of extra space, and wonderful new bathrooms with choices of coloured lighting. My son said he could live at The Sheraton Grand. Age 10 he surely has good taste! Whilst in Edinburgh we had a very special day on the Royal Yacht Britannia. The audio tour is superb. The sun shining over the water at Leith set off the visit perfectly. I recommend this hotel wholeheartedly. The Castle View rooms are worth every penny, the staff are friendly and One spa was as good as ever. We return home with wonderful memories of a great trip to Edinburgh.

Edinburgh Tattoo With Superbreak

Stay Date: 30/08/10

Overall Hotel Rating:

Taxi from the airport to the hotel about 15 minutes. Hotel is of a good five star standard. Rooms are being refurbished in a modern style with mood lighting; may be a bit trendy for some. No toilet brush (aargh!). Beds in refurbished rooms are good but not quite as comfortable as the previous ones. Not too keen on toilet door which swings both ways (you have to see it to understand). Housekeeping and service are excellent. Breakfast is very good with a wide range of dishes, including cooked food that is kept at a good temperature and replenished well. Service at breakfast is particularly good. Evening meal in buffet good and reasonable price. Can choose two or three courses. Bar snacks are very good although service in bar can be a little slow. Some training needed? Tattoo seats are in the best stand, facing the action. The seats are small but are being replaced in the coming year. It is only a twenty minute walk from the hotel to the castle. We have used this package every other year for many years and have always found it trouble-free.

Fond Memories

We stayed at the Sheraton in 2007 when I proposed to my now wife, had a great time and the hotel was lovely. This was a revisit to what is a special place for us but unfortunately the hotel has gone about a thorough refurbishment which for us just took away that special grand feeling of the previuosly stately decor and replaced it with modern and bland modern hotel style - it could be anywhere. Despite the new modern decor of the main hotel the spa is absolutely fabulous and we both had great treatments (massage and facial). We would really recomend you visit and enjoy!!.
