Ypres (Ieper) is in the north-west corner of Belgium close to the French border. In the Middle Ages it was a prosperous city renowned for its linen trade with England. The surrounding area has many important memorials as during World War 1 this was the site of prolonged and costly battles.

Friendly, Well Located Hotel Offering Good Value

out of 5My partner and i stayed here for 2 nights to visit the ww1 battlefields, cemetaries and monuments. The hotel is very centrally situated and is literally a 2 minute walk from the menin gate and market square. It has a very good underground car park with a lift directly to the reception or to your floor for the reasonable cost of 11 euro for each 24hr period. All of the staff we came into contact with spoke good english and were very friendly and helpful. The room was of a very good size with a comfortable king size bed along with a decent sized sofa which would convert into a bed. The toilet was separate to the bath/shower room, which is a useful facility. The room was in good repair and offered free tea and coffee facilities, minibar, tv with the main english channels and ample storage space. The buffet breakfast is absolutely excellent with a very wide range of food and drink available including a decent full cooked breakfast. We'll certainly be looking to stay again when we visit ypres in the future.

out of 5We spent 48 hours in Ypres before a 10 day beach holiday in France. The Novotel was excellent, the room big enough for 3 making it very good value & for breakfast a fantastic choice of hot & cold food. It was ideally situated too-only a 2 minute walk from the Menin bridge & main square. We heard last post played both nights and went on a wonderful 4 hour tour of the battlefields. Our guide, Jacques was very knowledgeable and friendly. We also enjoyed 3 hours at the In Flanders Fields museum.
