The title is a reference to bad reviews this hotel has had from others. This was my second visit to this hotel. I speak with a little more authority having stayed mid-week and weekend. Don't stay weekend if you like your peace and quiet. They do weddings etc. And in my experience allow a minority of people do not behave when in a hotel at a wedding. The loutish ignorant behaviour I experienced was entirely connected with the "wedding" celebration taking place. This happened when in the hotel bar and later the noise emitted by this minority when they returned late to their rooms. Behaviour which is entirely out of character for this hotel. A suggestion will be made to rent rooms, to wedding guests, that are closer to the main building, eliminating the need to make their noise when passing rooms of those who have retired earlier. It would be simple to arrange this. Problems experienced were due to the ignorance of people retiring late in to the evening. So to the nice bits, this hotel is one of the finest establishments I have stayed at. The service - impeccable, example: pots of milk for coffee in your room all placed neatly with the opening tabs all pointing in the same direction! it is (normally) quiet with only the distant hum of the motorway, if the windows are left open (the hum helped me sleep!). Papers missing in the morning? tell reception and the late delivered paper was collected from outside our room and brought to us at reception with sincere apologies. One of the many advatages: brag to your friends that (if you are in the annexe at the back of the hotel) "the hotel is so big that we had to drive round the front for breakfast!" this is an absolute pleasure as the arboretum is a wonderful drive on a sunny morning. Great hotel for wells, glastonbury, stonehenge and south wales. Breakfast was absolutely first class.

A Relaxing Stay At Tortworth Hotel

A beautiful majestic hotel in extensive grounds with their own arboretum (300 trees of various species). Lovely views over manicured lawns and flower beds looking towards a lake. We could not fault this hotel with friendly, pleasant staff, comfortable rooms and excellent food. Finding it was no problem although it is tucked away on b roads. Getting to Bristol was fairly straight forward with the motorway links, unfortunately the park and ride is only on the south side of Bristol which was no use to us coming from Tortworth to the north, hence we had to find a car park in Bristol centre which was very expensive. Overall I would rate this hotel an excellent place to stay.

We have just spent a very pleasant four days in this very interesting hotel. We had no complaints about any aspect of the hotel, although it was a rather long walk from the main part of the hotel to some of the bedrooms.

A Beautiful Hotel

A customerfrom BLACKPOOLwho stayed at this hotel wrote this review.

Overall Hotel Rating:

5 out of 5

This hotel has some recent bad press on other websites. It is not a strange hotel but a beautiful hotel. A little out if the way but excellent breakfast and very clean rooms and well worth a visit. Example of service: I had newspapers delivered to the room each day. On the last day it didn't arrive. At reception a staff member was asked to go and get it from my room door for me as it had been delivered late. All tear open tabs on the milk pots were pointing the same way when they were replenished each day! Small things can indicate a lot of care is taken.
