out of 5We went to this area to meet up with family who were narrow boating. The hotel provided a good base for this, though the suites and the leisure pool do need updating. The accommodation was remarkably spacious, the helpers were very pleasant, although at breakfast when I asked for scrambled egg instead of cooked breakfast, they said they had run out of eggs; amusing really as they have their own chickens! Room service was slow even though we had only ordered sandwhiches, these events tell me they had not enough staff.

out of 5The place itselft was okay. Very dated, a bit like crossroads motel. If they spent the money improving the place it would be an excellent place.

Overall Hotel Rating:
out of 5This was a really nice hotel with the biggest and best room I've had. We had a full size lounge as well as a bedroom and spacious bathroom with separate bath and shower. It was quiet, being early February, and running with only a few staff but they were without exception friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was good. The only criticism is that much of the decor is tired and dated. We gathered whilst there, that the hotel has just changed ownership following failure of its parent company. This in no way spoiled our weekend which was a bargain thoroughly enjoyed. I hope the new owners invest in the Clarion. Both the hotel and staff deserve it and there is great potential there.
