out of 5My partner and were in Brussels for the Jazz Festival just for the weekend. We walked everywhere and found it most interesting with an easy to- follow street map. The open top bus allowed us to see around the major sites [not getting off] and this is possible in 1hr30mins. The commentries were poor, lacking interesting information. I realise we were tight for time butwe didn't discover any little gems of eateries etc. I also thought the cafes were expensive for what was provided choice-wise. This is not a city we would choose to revisit.

out of 5Visited Mini-Europe on the way to the hotel which sits in the shadow of the sadly infamous Heysel Stadium .It comprises of an array of famous land marks from across europe in miniture form ,hence the name ,and also a celebration of the European Union From there we headed through heavy traffic to the city centre Holiday Inn. The greeting on arrival was excellent ,very proficient, professional and personable. Excellent room with good facilities and especially the room temperature controls which meant that the whole room remained comfortable without the hot and cold spots sometimes experienced in lesser hotels. Left the hotel and found the underground thanks to the map kindly provided by the excellent reception staff and headed off towards the Grotte Market where the christmas markets provided a wonderful array of things to eat with the delightful Glühwein. Had a delicious meal in one of the many sea food eateries that stretch down one street which could be found through the shopping arcade where it was difficult not to buy some of the wonderful creations from the chocolatieres Watched the firework display at mid night before returning to the hotel for a much needed rest. Awoke and went down to the buffet breakfast which was a range of tasty well prepared food but sadly quite disorganised New Years Day at Waterloo where we enjoyed crepes and hot chocolate in Napoleon's Bivouac after climbing the Butte du Lion de Waterloo and visiting the excellent, entertaining and informative displays and exhibitions which gave the downfall of Napoleon's army in great detail. Headed back into the city where we enjoyed a great meal at the hotel before departing for a short break in France
