out of 5We were in Shirley for a family weekend. Good hotel. Weather not brilliant so visited the canal system in Birmingham. Had a trip on a canal boat to escape the rain. I worked in B'ham in my younger days, but didn't recognise it. What was a very run down area is now lovely with lots of eating places on the edge of the canals. We went out to the boot at Lapworth for a meal one evening. Would recommend it, and no more expensive that the beefeater, but a bit different. Our party were all adults.

out of 5We hired a canal boat for the day. 7 of us enjoyed the gentle cruising, the peaceful countryside and the wildlife. It was relaxing, yet interesting with locks and aqueducts to enliven the journey. The hotel was in an excellent location- near to Birmingham, near to Stratford, and reasonably priced. There were plenty of pubs,bars and restaurants within 10 minutes drive.
